The Ordinary Brown Paper Bag Gets A Makeover

The Ordinary Brown Paper Bag Gets A Makeover

Story Options

After spending her life as a dedicated music teacher for 29 years here in the Buffalo Public School System, Joyce Robinsons retired, but instead of heading to Florida and putting her feet up, she went the opposite direction and stayed active. She moved to Washington, DC where she taught for a little while, but eventually ended up in Union City, Georgia, where she started Brown Paper Bags Gone Wild, LLC. The name of her company is literal: Robinsons takes an ordinary brown paper bag and turns it into a one-of-a-kind work of art.

These creative bags turn from a plain piece of paper into designer handbags that can be used for gifts, decoration, or just a personal statement in your wardrobe. Each of the bags Robinsons designs are handcrafted with the most delicate fabrics and accessories. She truly turns each of her bags into a canvas, making each a special work of art. Her unique style will even be featured on the Fall 2008 season of House of Payne after her bags caught the attention of Tyler Perry Studios.

The hard part in most peoples’ minds to imagine is how Robinsons manages to take an ordinary brown paper bag and turn it into a functional bag that won’t rip the first time you toss something into it. Would it really be worth buying a work of art if it was destroyed in two seconds? Well, to help answer that question, Robinsons is returning to Buffalo to give interested patrons the opportunity to see her bags up close and personal. She will be showcasing her designs on December 7th at the newly opened 2nd Cup Case at 36 Broadway. If you’d like a preview of some of the bags you might see, check out Robinsons website.

I love BRO for all the information they provide. I'm a native Buffalonian living in Atlanta, and I've never heard of Ms. Robinson or hear Brown Paper Paper Bags Gone Wild. I will be in Buffalo on the 7th of Dec. and would love to check out her designs.

I haven't read this blog in months until today and low and behold here is a story about a friend from back in the day, the late 70's, early 80's. We lost touch a long time ago going our separate pathways. Now I know where she is and what's she's doing. It does not surprise me at all. Joyce was always someone who moved on to the next new thing in life. I wonder if we'll see her some time soon on Oprah.
