On a couple of occasions we've talked about trying to find breakfast in the city. It seems to be a slightly difficult task. So far we've unearthed bagels, sweets, granola and egg-centric options at Spot, and a really delicious grilled cheese and avocado sandwich at Washington Market (they offer breakfast sandwiches as well).

Recently I decided to stop in at Buffalo's Main Menu. I drive by it everyday, but somehow never remember it's there until I've practically driven past it. Those interested in stopping by should note that the sign and entryway are virtually hidden from view by the beautiful tree that stands in front of it.

In November, this business was taken over by new owners. I can't speak to the quality of the food or service offered by the previous management, but the current version of the establishment provides friendly service, and a large menu featuring breakfast and lunch.

The first morning I stopped in I had a nice chance to chat with the woman working behind the counter. Well, actually she was doing everything, and maintaining a nice disposition, while helping customers and making my fantastic breakfast burrito which is always a handy option for someone on the go. Their burritos are made up of peppers and onions, home fries (sometimes cut a little large for easy handling), scrambled eggs and American cheese ($6). It is important to note that it is huge, but for the uber hungry there is also the option of adding bacon, sausage or ham (additional $1.50).

All breakfast specials include a cup of coffee or oj. The other specials include the classic two egg with either home fries or hash browns, toast and bacon, ham or sausage ($4.25), pancakes with your choice of meat and home fries or hash browns ($4.25), and a three egg cheese omelet with an additional item of your choosing and toast ($5.25). For those looking to buy breakfast to share with coworkers, there is a 9” breakfast pizza for only $6. The health conscious can somewhat compensate for the eggs and cheese with the addition of seitan.

The lunch menu is pretty extensive, offering a broad assortment of sandwiches, salads, wraps and daily specials. I plan to stop in for my noonday meal at some point in time (it's a good drive from our offices), but am content to use it as my “to go” breakfast joint from this point forward. One of the best things about this place is that you can call your order in to go and there is always street parking available outside. I must add that the quality of my burrito breakfast has been effected by which staffer prepares it, but it's a good option no matter how you slice it.

Thanks for the review- I've passed this restaurant many times but have never slowed down to see what is on the menu.

I wonder if this is Buffalo's narrowest restaurant, or building for that matter (assuming it sits on its own lot)

I've had the pleasure of take-out from Main Menu - and no doubt, they have some of the best VEGITARIAN food around. Try the Anai's Seitan Wrap- super good, HUGE portion, good price. :)

Hey! Hey! Hey! Don't bring too much attention to this restaurant! It is a favorite of mine for its convenience and cheap prices and early morning hours. Which compensates for closing so soon after lunch. I am a big fan of big breakfasts and this place fits the bill. But don't start going there and making it all crowded and stuff. You know?

the prices are not as cheap as the old owner, I loved stopping in an getting the 5 Buck sub! :) But the quality and sizes are better with the new management so it is worth the extra buck. PLUS they are open later into the afternoon / evening now than the strictly breakfast / lunch hours they had before.
