Surf for your living room

roomwklerfj.jpg How cool is it to be able to walk into a retail shop and surf the world-wide web from the business's front counter? It makes a big difference when smaller stores don't have the ability to carry full lines of products. And if those products come in different sizes and colors, it is often times up to the sales person to describe the options (clearly). Flipping through paper catalogues can be completely frustrating, and even if the right item is identified the ordering process can be very time consuming.

That's why 'room' has built a computer into their showroom. It alleviates the need for needless verbal descriptions that can be tough to relay to customers. And if a customer has seen a certain website that they are excited about, the owners of 'room' can look up the site online and see what they are talking about. David (co-owner photo right) told us that customers love the feature for its convenience. From the time that someone picks out what they like it is only a matter of minutes before the item is ordered online and the transaction is complete. Viola! Shopping made even easier at 'room' - located at 988 Elmwood | 716-886-3541

james - they are allowing you to look at merchandise that they can custom order (by showing you different fabrics or colors) or so they can special order something for you from their suppliers that they do not have on display, so in essence it is expanding their showroom

Buffalo James: not surprisingly...no. On the computer we feature the companies, designers, artists, etc. Unfortunately, we are not large enough to carry every item that the companies we work with create. Using the computer to access there personal web-sites allows us to show more of what we have access to, a long with different styles than what we have in the store. In the day of online shopping, what has worked to our advantage is people will look online for ideas and things they like at home...then come to the store and show us online what they are looking for...asking if we have somthing similar, or if we have the ability to get something like it. More often than not, people enjoy working more personally with us at room.

So far it has worked very well for us and has only benefited our business

    QE-

Voici the proper spelling of 'viola': V-O-I-L-A!

Unless you just really like classical music, which is fine.

PS- everything about 'room' is great.

d'oh, yah i guess not just anyone could order from a supplier.

inital thoughts were how an awkward situation would be handled when you show the customer the item online then try to mark it up, only to have them say 'no thanks, i think i'll just go home and order it.'

anyways, great store you have there.

Great store--and great service. I recently purchased two leather club chairs from a design house called 'sitcom'...great line...and David was nice enough work with me using their on-line web service--to come up with some ideas for lighting and a table that would work with the chairs. In fact, one of the nice things was that I showed David a lamp I liked from an on-line retailer ...and he thought that it was a great choice for what I was looking for. No pressure to push for every purchase from their store. In the end, 'room' will be one of my first choices when I upgrade other items in my home. They demonstrate that they're committed delivering the kind of service that WINS business.

And for the record 'buffalo james' is off the mark here. Usually most real design house merchandise is only offered via the retail outlets who carry their lines.

I highly recommend 'room'...they have a wealth of tasteful, hip furnishings and accessories.
