Staples Opens In Allentown

Staples of Allentown is now open. Located at the corner of Allen and Wadsworth, Staples is a chill looking hangout that has a ton of atmosphere. In around a month's time, the establishment will begin to serve a wide array of foods. I spoke with bartender Jean Claude, who told me to expect some sort of tapas fare, along with some BBQ. Then he kinda let the cat out of the bag. He mentioned that Sammy from Everything Special might have something to do with the cuisine... If that's true, then these guys might have a goldmine on their hands.
The Sammy thing is yet to be officially confirmed, but one thing for certain is that there will be some sort of a deli hut featured inside with smoked meats - the hut is already in place, and get this: The guy (Charlie) who built it owns the dog that he dresses up like a leprechaun at the festivals. JC also tells me that he is hoping that Mondays will be dedicated industry nights, where restaurant and bar employees will be welcome.
The bar at Staples is pretty darn cool too. Last night Johnny Cash and The Beatles were the choice music selections. The back of the restaurant looks amazing too. The trellis on the ceiling is intriguing, and the booths are totally laid back. This will be where movies are to be played, wines will be discussed, art shows will be held, and live music will be played. Staples officially opened this past Saturday, so stop in and welcome them to Allentown.

Sunday Suppers is a Buffalo Rising series that encourages readers to enjoy an evening with good friends and family, while preparing and eating a simple one-dish supper. Ingredients should include fresh produce and local food products. As my picky-eater daughter was preparing for her first year at college, I started thinking about her opportunity to start a Sunday Supper tradition in the dorm. A tasty, nutritious meal made together with roommates and friends could establish a routi …
You know how sometimes you have a conversation with someone and come away with the impression that things are good, and everything is as it should be? After I spoke with the Cichocki Brothers at Camellia Foods, a 3rd generation Polish Sausage and Ham producer in Buffalo, I came away knowing that at the center of everything they do is Family Tradition—as it should be.
The Cichocki brothers, Peter, Patrick and Eric, are at the helm of their Grandfather Edmund’s business that h …
Last month, when I asked readers to list five places they couldn’t live without, several folks mentioned Amy’s Place. A few of them specifically recommended the Margie Meal. So it was with great anticipation that I recently made my first visit to this very cool establishment. Why it took me so long to try this place, I’ll never know. Suffice to say that I’m already looking forward to my next meal there.
I liked the vibe right away when I noticed a sign on the wall that sa …
