Squeaky Wheel in the Ansonia Building

This really is where the arts meets the architecture. Squeaky Wheel has officially moved from its long running space on Elmwood to a brand spanking new space in a downtown architectural treasure. This is a big move for Squeaky. The old space was a mysteriously cool location with its black painted windows, funky orange and blue colors and whimsical metal work.
Squeaky's new digs are located in the Art Nouveau style Ansonia Building (built around 1920), which is located at 712 Main Street. The stunning building will make a marvelous new home for this local powerhouse media arts center. The non-profit organization has been around for 20 years promoting the underground film movement, lending technical support to local artists in the industry, and providing classes in a variety of media off-shoots. Through these endeavors, Squeaky Wheel has put Buffalo on the map for its audio, digital, computer and video resources as well.
Not only is this a big move for Squeaky, it's a huge move for the ever growing arts movement in Buffalo. It's also another feather in the cap for Main Street.
Useless Trivia: The Kurgan, in the film Highlander, roomed at the Ansonia located at 73rd and Broadway in NY. Like I said... useless trivia.

Medaille was founded in 1875 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph to prepare its members for teaching in diocesan schools. Later, in 1937 the institute was chartered by New York State to grant baccalaureate degrees in education; the college was renamed in honor of Father John Peter Medaille, and the rest is history.
Since its founding, Medaille has grown into a well-known, private, four-year college with their main campus located in the historic Olmsted Crescent in the heart of Buffa …

The tour is on Sunday, September 14th and kicks off at the Clement Mansion where the Red Cross is headquartered at 786 Delaware Avenue. There, …
Maybe you read about this one last December, or maybe you took the time and looked over this one in April, and perhaps you considered attending this event back in June. Forgotten Buffalo Tours take participants on a journey into the history of the area, always striving to produce a unique and entertaining outing. Their success has allowed them to …
Last evening was the first time that I have ever attended the event, Party for the Parks held at the Marcy Casino. The parks gala started up just as the Burchfield-Penney showing was winding down, and has happened more than a few times this summer, the non-stop rain kept everyone guessing. By guessing, I mean that every time the band members would even look at their instruments the rain would start to fall. It was a good thing that the upper terrace was covered and the Marcy Casin …
