Spitzer Quits

On Monday, the New York State governor, allegedly known as client #9 to the prostitution ring he was involved with, has suffered a life and career devastating blow.
It is speculated that Spitzer spent a large sum of money on prostitutes over time, but another potentially damaging facet is the possibility that he may have used state employees to facilitate his meetings with prostitutes.
Word is that the 48 hour lag before the inevitable was a result of Spitzer buying time in order to look for a plea deal. No such deal is evident at this time. Spitzer, a lawyer, may be disbarred depending on whether or not he pleads guilty to the federal offense of wiring money and bringing a prostitute over state lines.
In his statement, Spitzer said he has spent last few days apologizing, mostly to his family. As to his short gubernatorial reign, he said he feels remorse regarding a "sense of what might have been" but feels he had also accomplished a lot.
March 17 will be the first day as Governor of New York State for Lt. Governor David Paterson. Paterson is immediately faced with a more than $5B deficit.

Last month we ran a post on buffalorising.com, Looking for City Dwellers (at Heart), and Kyle LoConti was one of many people who answered the call. As it turns out, her personal profile fits exactly the type of person real estate agents and developers have been telling us will move into Downtown Buffalo.
LoConti is a unique person whose most typical trait is that of a being an empty nester, single, professional who is looking for a place in the City of Buffalo to call her own. …
With a few strokes of a paint roller pushed by Mayor Byron Brown and other community leaders, the Blue Buffaloes that mark the Walk Buffalo tours are reappearing at 28 locations in downtown Buffalo.
At a press conference in front of the Market Arcade Building Tuesday afternoon, celebrating National Tourism Week, Mayor Brown, Rich Geiger, Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau; Grant Loomis, Office of the County Executive, and Michael Schmand, Buffalo Place, painted the firs …
Coming at you from Labatt US headquarters, Buffalo Place has just announced the line-up for the 2008 Thursday at the Square (presented by M&T Bank). It was a no-brainer to visit the Labatt Blue base in order to listen to the announcement. There was one zinger that took a few people by surprise - on August 15th-16th Buffalo Place will 'Rock the Harbor' once again. On that Friday Great Big Sea will take the stage followed by The Robert Cray Band and Keb' Mo' on Saturday. This will b …
This morning, former BRO contributor Giovanni Centurione sent me an email asking if I would let readers know that there is a chance to nominate Buffalo as the Best Place to Relocate/Live for 2009. There is a website where people submit their choices for the category of "Relocate America's Top 100 Cities". For eleven years the top 100 cities have been listed according to the number of submissions as well as editorial input. Gio has requested that BRO readers visit the site and subm …

He feels that he accomplished a lot...lol.. okay here are Spitzer's Top 3 accomplishments prior to 72 hours ago.... 1) Failed plan to offer driver's licenses to illegal immigrants...Can you say WTF....Down is Up, Left is Right...A US Citizen who misses a child support payment loses their license ! 2) Scandal over aides compiling travel documents on Republican Senate Leader Joseph Bruno leading to gridlock in the State Legislature. 3) The NYS Budget was passed a day late, and included record spending that was more than double the inflation rate.
Good riddance Elliott.

I'm not sure how these particular articles on Spitzer fall under BRO's purview. Why don't we get some analysis of how the loss of the gov who actually visited and spoke in Buffalo and recognized Upstate's different needs enough to get a ball rolling is going to effect WNY? There have been a lot of jokes, but let's get serious here. A guy made a horrible mistake and ruined his family trust. He's also the governor who made some big promises that could have seen the light of day in Buffalo. Now what?

Feel good stories not covered in BRO: 1) Studio Arena's closing 2) Fast food delivery driver shot on the East Side 3) Realtor beaten while photographing houses on the East Side 4) Appraisal.com goes out of business, liquidation auction held on Tuesday 5) 100 Buffalo Police Officers and Fire Fighters make over $100,000 last year. One Buffalo Police Officer earned $122,000 in overtime in 2007. I wonder if he is going to work the St. Patrick's day parade? 6) Enterprise Charter School's financial and educational issues

I wonder how many 'nooners' he pulled while on the state government clock? Estimating he dropped @90 grand on hookers from this escort service? This is just the tip of the iceburg folks! Wonder who Clients 1-8 are? How 'bout the NYS Police...his security detail...I'm sure they had no idea! Elliott 'Dudley Doowright' Spitzer...the self-proclaimed 'steamroller' is now a sad little rich-boy 'john'...awwww! And how 'bout his 90-secong speech today? Full of arrogance--with the flair of a great orator! He actually keeps describing this as a 'personal matter'...HE's cooked!

Instead of regurgitating the bad jokes and ouns about this ordeal - for all of us - why not come up with some ideas on how we can work with the new Gov.? He seems to have strong WNY ties. So, come on, everybody, get the good groove on and decide what direction we need to take with Paterson. Don't forget, the pundits are reading....

Governors looking for some "relaxation" should avoid the Mayflower Hotel. There's a Hilton Garden Inn outside Arlington that offers free breakifast and zippy in and out porking....um parking. And the elevators have Braille buttons.

Tragedy? The only tragedy is for the hipocrate Spitzer's wife and family. I'll bet he used campaign funds to support the expenses of travel, transport of prostitutes, etc...to get his fix. It's all about arrogance, power, and greed. Here we had the leader of the so-called 'welfare state' with enough play money to blow $80-90 grand for sex. Help me understand where the tragedy is concerning this high-falootin' john? No tragedy at all for dillusional Ellliot.
