Rock Harbor Bike Bash!

The event was originally conceived by the Rock Harbor Blue Initiative to raise money for bike locking rings in the city. It turns out that the money was there all along to convert the parking meter poles into bike stations, so now the money raised at the Bike Bash will go towards building a bike statue (public work of art) to be placed somewhere in the city. There are plenty of places downtown that are in need of public art. Who knows... there might even be a competition on Saturday to design the concept.
Also on Saturday, Blue Bike will be bringing reconditioned bikes for a donation (amount depends on the bike in question) and there will also be a bike auctioned off with proceeds going toward a bike sculpture. Blue Bike will also be providing a bike valet service. Sugar City will be hosting a bake sale. Brian Wantuch (Wasteland Studio) has given us a break on renting a killer sound-system. Ed Hogle (bash host) has cordoned off a very cool indoor VIP area for the musicians that overlooks the venue. There are office bathrooms instead of Porta-Potties, and two shuffleboard courts with custom Atlas Steel equipment are being built. Flying Bison beer will be available only in the Beer Cage (within eyesight of the stage), while burgers and veggie burgers will be cooked on custom barbecue grills. Verve Studios will also be making an appearance. Look for the Microparks to set up too!
People planning on attending can find out more information on Facebook - look under the event section or check out the group Buffalo Bike Club for more info on Saturday's ride to The Bash. The event is free - purchases to benefit biking in Buffalo.

According to Joy McDuffie, Foreclosure Prevention Specialist at the WNY Law Center, don’t believe everything you hear about foreclosures in Buffalo – they’re still a real problem. McDuffie says many think that Buffalo didn’t get hit hard by the sub prime lending market collapse, but that it just isn’t true.
“We’re really trying to help because Buffalo definitely has a foreclosure problem, but there are things that homeowners can do. We actually have a $700,000 two-y …
Medaille was founded in 1875 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph to prepare its members for teaching in diocesan schools. Later, in 1937 the institute was chartered by New York State to grant baccalaureate degrees in education; the college was renamed in honor of Father John Peter Medaille, and the rest is history.
Since its founding, Medaille has grown into a well-known, private, four-year college with their main campus located in the historic Olmsted Crescent in the heart of Buffa …
Since 1994, people have gone on the self-guided “Secrets of Allentown” tour, discovering the rich history of the area and the beauty of the architecture here in Buffalo. The tour is on Sunday, September 14th and kicks off at the Clement Mansion where the Red Cross is headquartered at 786 Delaware Avenue. There, …
Maybe you read about this one last December, or maybe you took the time and looked over this one in April, and perhaps you considered attending this event back in June. Whatever your reasoning for putting it off, there’s no time like the present for Forgotten Buffalo, unless of course it’s the past.
Forgotten Buffalo Tours take participants on a journey into the history of the area, always striving to produce a unique and entertaining outing. Their success has allowed them to …
