Recuperating On Sunday The Sixth

So after fireworks and celebrations on Friday and Saturday, some, if not many, Buffalonians will no doubt be hung over and tired. That’s okay. Take Sunday, skip church, and sleep in till the afternoon. Just make sure you’re up and ready to go around 2:30 PM so you can make it on time to Cozumel Grill for Sunday Bloody Sunday.
Between 3 and 6 PM, Cozumel at 153 Elmwood Avenue runs drink specials on Bloody Mary’s and Vodka drinks. A Blood Mary will only cost you $4.50 and a Vodka drink will only cost you $3. That ought to be easy on your pockets after shelling out dough all weekend. DJ Cutter will be there spinning some great music for you to relax and dance to (if your legs can handle it), and if you’re enjoying yourself, feel free to stick around.
However, if you’d like to go bar hopping, head on down to the Pearl Street Brewery at 76 Pearl Street for Sunset Sundays. This is their fourth year doing this event and it features some great local musicians. The cost to you is nothing to hear some Buffalonian talent jamming beginning at 8 PM and rocking till the wee hours of the morning.
Their line-up starts with Joe Jubei & Marc V. playing tech-house and live percussion, followed by Christ Sinister, an area original who makes rare appearances, and 12/8 Path Band, a 10-piece Brazilian-funk outfit. There may be more added to the night as July 6th comes closer, so when you’re done with your cheap Bloody Mary’s, go from the Grill to the Brewery to hear some kicking tunes.
There will be other places to recuperate on Sunday, but these two venues offer some cheap drinks and great music. Hopefully you’ll be able to make it out, but if not, you can always try to make it out next week Sunday.

As you look outside your office window today, you're likely overtaken by the sheer beauty. Blowing snow. People hunched over, freezing, trying to walk into a 30MPH wind. You're probably reading from the script of American Beauty:
Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it... and my heart is going to cave in.
Or, maybe you're just thinking "Oh f#@!, I have to drive home in this s*$#."
Either way, we're here to lift your spirits.

A two-story Delaware Avenue office building is getting a new face and a third story. The Buffalo Planning Board approved renovation plans for 334 Delaware Avenue at this morning's meeting. Owner 120 W. Tupper Street Inc. is undertaking the $1.2 million project. The bland building will get a new look and a glass third-floor addition.
At an after school program recently, some kids were doing homework, some were on computers and some were in the gym. But a small group of fourth-graders were designing and building boats out of household products- plastic cups, construction paper, and tape. They had been building and modifying their boats throughout the week, trying a few different design and construction plans. Now they were ready to race them across a tub of water, using a fan to power them across. After deal …
Larry Griffis III is a well-known Buffalo figure whose experience with steel is not only his passion, but his birthright. Some may know of his father’s sculpture park in South Buffalo, founded in the 60s, but his son has taken up the torch and is now a world-renowned sculpture. What started with the father has continued with the son. Griffis III’s work is starting to appear in spots in Buffalo and now, to see one of his works, you need look no further than Forest Lawn Chapel.
