Record Turnout for Turkey Trot
Fleet Feet On Elmwood Avenue reports that there was a record turnout for this year's Turkey Trot. This is one of the city's most highly anticipated races and every year ex-pats flock back to Buffalo to enter and run.
What a perfect day for racing. Thanksgiving 2006 had to be the best weather day ever for this 111 year old tradition. With a record turnout of over 8100 registrants and 7500 finishers this one will be hard to top next year. The perfect conditions led to some very fast times. This year's overall winners, Kyle O'Brein and Jackie Rzepecki ran 24:20 and 28:49. Kyle's time was the fastest I could find going back to 2001, while Jackie's was second only to Allison Carr's 28:44 back in 2003. -Fleet Feet

To be honest, I went out Wednesday night planning to chronicle the last night of this hockey season in Buffalo.
After the way Ottawa crushed the Sabres in Monday night’s third game of the Eastern Conference Finals, physically and spiritually, in perhaps the most one-sided 1-0 game ever played in any sport, the logical conclusion was that Buffalo’s seven-month run as the new glamour team of the National Hockey League was in its death throes.
Teams come back from 3-0 deficits …
Shows how much I know.
Last week’s preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators was rife with wisecracks about John Muckler, Ray Emery, Daniel Alfredsson and even the Roman Senate.
All wrong, as it turns out, with the possible exception of the bit about the machismo exhibited by ancient Rome’s legislative body.

What a great day, truely one of Buffalo's finest yearly events. Whats more fun that running your hardest 5 miles (hungover from the night before) and getting HAMMERED with 7,000 sweaty people in the convention center.
