Madeline Kicks Off TOY's 2008-2009 Season

Story Options

To start off their 2008-2009 season, the Theatre of Youth is opening with a play that will captivate the children in the audience as their eyes follow the adventures of the well-known heroine Madeline in “Madeline’s Christmas.” With just a handful of performances before Christmas, be sure to get your tickets early so you don’t miss out on this holiday treat.

Opening night for the play is Friday, December 12th at 7 PM. There will also be performances on December 13th at 2 and 5:30 PM, December 14th at 2 PM, December 19th at 7 PM, December 20th at 2 and 5:30 PM, and December 21st at 2 PM. With such few performances, don’t let your child (or adult who’s a kid at heart) miss out on this trip to life in Paris, in a house covered with vines, where twelve little girls live in two straight lines.

The play is set on Christmas Eve in Paris and everyone is stuck in bed fighting the flu, except of course for Madeline, who is up to her usual antics. The only thing Madeline is fighting is sleep, as she attempts to stay awake long enough to catch a glimpse of Old Saint Nick. She rushes from her bed when she hears a clatter, expecting to see a jolly old man in a red suit, but only discovers the rug merchant, dropping off twelve special rugs. From there on out, it’s time for a few Christmas miracles that brings all the girls home for the holidays and returns them to school to celebrate a marvelous New Year’s Eve.

The play is being sponsored by Fisher-Price and directed by Meg Quinn. The play stars Megan Callahan, Tim Newell, Mary Kate O’Connell, Justine B. Rodriguez, Ashley Andrews, Lindsay Andrews, Annabel Bacon, Alexis Boehnlein, Janee Brown, Libby Cannon, Jillian Farrell, Regan Flemming, Morgan Parnitzke, Violet Perry, Samantha Rohloff. Tickets are $19 or $17 per person and can be purchased by calling 884-4400 ext 304. You can learn more about the theater, including group rates, here.

I just hope my kids can sit thru this they usually fall asleep because the shows are so long and boring and that annoying music...plus you can never hear anything, the sound there is terrible.
