How 'bout a price-range? There are a bunch of places around, but you would really need to look at prices first...

I am the VP of the Grant-Amherst Business Assn and we are working to bring artists to the storefronts that are currently unoccupied. We feel it is a natural with the museum district right on Elmwood. Do you have an idea how much space you are looking for and price ranges?

The Essex St. Arts Center (at 30 Essex St) has some more industrial space from the looks of it. I have no idea if any is available but they might be a good resource regardless.

I agree with Caleb, the Grant/Amherst storefronts are great and there is already Artsphere Studio there. Also, a storefront studio can double as gallery space to show your work. I am an artist and live and work in Blackrock. There are studio/storefronts ready to rent on Niagara St. between Amherst and Hamilton st. on a historically interesting block. Since you are community oriented, why not do what I did and buy property. We in Blackrock want to encourage artists to invest in property here. I pay less on my mortgage than I paid in renting an apartment and studio space before. Investing in property and bringing your art to a community has real impact that can spur revitalization. Down the line, there is an idea to turn the empty Blackrock Academy school on Hertel Ave into artists studios. Its within view of the Niagara River, has easy access to the highway and is in Buffalo State's backyard. There would possibly be as many as 40 studios. I am looking for interested artists to help make this project happen.

thanks everyone for replying,,however, as a student, i have basically no $$...i am looking for a place to do artwork in, not for a show yet...i can probably afford something around the price of $50-$100 per month, hopefully leaning more towards the $50 mark....does anyone know if they have space in the old Pierce Arrow building? i heard from someone that they were making it into studios....
