Vosges Chocolate Tasting w/YUM and Spa 341

Looking for a little something special to gift your favorite foodie for Valentine's Day? Buffalo Rising's YUM and Spa 341 have teamed up to offer Buffalonians a fun way to indulge in one of the best things that Valentine’s Day has to offer: Chocolate!
Vosges is a chocolate boutique from Chicago that has taken the art of crafting fine chocolate to a whole new level. Not only is Vosges Chocolate of the highest quality, but the spirit and flavors that their confections embody are out of this world, or rather of it. Inspired by the flavor profiles inherent to indigenous cultures from all over the globe, Vosges has developed a line of luxury chocolates like no other (though they are copied by other chocolatiers with wild abandon).
The weekend following Valentine's Day, YUM and Spa 341 will host a tasting at the stunning Executive Performance Center featuring Vosges fine chocolates. The tasting session will take you on a multi-sensory adventure with Vosges. We'll walk you through the process of learning to understand chocolate with each of your senses. You'll sample at least ten of Vosges Exotic Bars using your newly developed tasting skills. You'll also learn some interesting facts about the history of chocolate, how it is made, its health benefits and how to judge its quality.
Once you have mastered the art of tasting chocolate and have sampled most of Vosges Exotic Bar line, we'll convene to the foyer for a demonstration with Spa 341's Chef Avi Altman. Learn to make an intoxicating Chocolate Chai Tea with cinnamon and Indonesian vanilla, a deeply flavorful Mesoamerican Xocatl hot chocolate and a "fiery" Aperitif featuring chocolate, cardamom, ginger, orange and clove. You'll also have the opportunity to concoct your own warm mug of sweet elixir from the hot chocolate bar featuring a variety of gourmet ingredients.
YUM and Spa 341's Vosges Tasting is going to be a fun event and we're really looking forward to it. We hope that you will come. Tickets are only $30 and the tasting sessions will be held at The Executive Performance Center on Linwood Avenue on Saturday February 16 at 12:30 PM and 3PM, and again on Sunday, February 17 at 12:30 PM and 3 PM . Each session lasts about an hour and a half. Whether you bring a friend or a romantic interest, it will be comfortable and fun environment for everyone. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Call Spa 341 at 512.7097 for more information.

A corner joint needn't be a dive.
And Papa Jake's doesn't make its patrons choose between a laid-back bar atmosphere and delicious, fresh food. Scott Leary, the new owner of Papa Jake’s Saloon on Elmwood, knows how to provide casual comfort and a very satisfying dining experience.
“We don’t take shortcuts here at Papa Jake’s,” Leary says. He proves this with Papa Jake’s fresh and tasty menu. “I don’t want to call this a late night menu, because we have amaz …
With the opening of more and more coffee houses downtown, some people wonder if Buffalo is really a coffee town. Buffalo is the original coffee town!
The "coffee break" which is taken for granted as a standard part of any work day has only been around for about a hundred years. Coffee culture has continued to flourish in this country and the espresso boom of the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s has seen to it that every other gas station in America now has a barista on staff. Perha …
It's great to see stylish, hip, new restaurants pop up downtown such as Sea Bar on Ellicott Street, which specializes in contemporary Japanese food. A clean ultra-modern space, Sea Bar’s dining room is quaint and inviting. The sleek sushi bar has counter seating and the wet bar, with beer, sake, and wine, has at least 10 sakes to choose from on any given night. We were happy to try a Sojitio, a sake mojito, which had the right amount of mint without too much sweetness.

Ten years ago, the downtown of My Fair City was forever altered when a Big Dinosaur appeared on the scene. Thankfully—unlike 1950’s Tokyo—when this dino showed up our downtown wasn’t flattened, but considerably improved. Dinosaur Bar B Que, a restaurant that originated in downtown Syracuse in the 1980’s, planted its foot in downtown Rochester in 1998. It was an instant hit—it’s common to have a line waiting to get in at all times. And it’s clearly Hog Heaven— …

VOSGES ROCKS!!! I used to always go to their store in Vegas just to get samples and stuff---bacon bar, olive/white chocolate, telaggio truffle, etc etc....Great, great chocolates and truffles....not a bad curry ice cream, either! I suggest them HIGHLY!
