Long on Shorts
There appears to be no shortage of short films in Buffalo this fall, starting with this Saturday's (Oct.1st-7:00PM) screening of THE CRAMSHAFT MEETING at the Market Arcade.
Written and Directed by Jerry MacKay, the 23-minute comedic short was produced by Jerry and Beth MacKay and executive directed by Terry Fisher / Full Circle Studios.
Filmed on a Sony HDV, CRAMSHAFT was shot in only eight days using local talent. The city of Buffalo is proudly apparent throughout MacKay's beautifully-shot film. Reed Rankin, a former stand-up comedian, plays...
Cramshaft, the title character. Local thespian Brian Butera, (a student at UB by day) plays opposite Rankin in this light-hearted comedy.
Join Jerry MacKay and his cast and crew for the premiere of his debut film. Director/Writer MacKay will be there to welcome your questions or comments before sending CRAMSHAFT off to national festivals. MacKay also welcomes the chance to discuss future projects with other local film principals, be they investors, crew, producers, directors, or writers. Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …
