Let's give 'em a warm Buffalo welcome.

Seven Seas and the City of Buffalo, from behind the lines of summertime, co-present the arrival of the magnificent tall ship STV Fair Jeanne, at our port on August 19 and 20, 2005.

Come down and welcome the Fair Jeanne, a 110-foot square-rigged Tall Ship, to our city. This Tall Ship has logged over 150,000 miles upon the seas, from its home in Ottawa, Canada. The ship is celebrating our Great Lakes freedom upon the world's largest unprotected border, and that is what Buffalo will also be celebrating that weekend. There will be Canadian and US authorities and dignitaries on hand for ongoing ceremonies.

There are high hopes for a Buffalo Harbor corps of boat greeters, the likes of which can only be garnered from the spirit with which Buffalo last greeted the Amistad two years ago. It was then that we beat the Baltimore record for visiting vessels greeting an incoming vessel. As Sugarloaf's race advances, let us be keen to the opportunity to sail boats out to see our racers away, and sail back to bring in the Tall Ship Fair Jeanne. -Bill Zimmerman @ Seven Seas

Friday night begins our weekend thrill-- the boat parade, a great band or two, the opening ceremonies of multiple and significant dignitaries, including wine gardens and song, water events and more...a full night, Full Moon August 19th celebration. And a midnight tie-up on the Lake of boats eager to howl at the moon!

Saturday is the opening of daylong events for the STV Fair Jeanne, for community vessel access. We'll have the Boy Scouts of America holding host sentinel, with the combination of Seven Seas and Inner Harbor Yacht Cub administrating access to her Tall Ship.
