Lens View of Buffalo
I frequently use the excellent photos by Nate Farnsworth and Matt Shaver in my posts. This week they were out grabbing pictures in the downtown area. We oftentimes take for granted how blessed Buffalo is with great architecture. Take a look at some of Buffalois well known and lesser known treasures along with some photos of works in progress.
Thanks Nate and Matt!

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.

One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. Great show and nice work guys!
Does anyone know what is going on with the former Empire of America Realty building at the corner of Oak and Swan? (That is the building just beyond the left field fence of Dunn Tire Park).
I drove by and noticed work going on, windows being gutted etc. It will be nice to see this structure get another life, and I hope that time and temperature marquee on the wall facing the ballpark is either refurbished or removed...it is a real eyesore!
Happy Mother's Day to all our great moms!

WIGS...Because they don't appreciate the work. SSC is a much larger and intelligent community as a whole as far as Urban talk, art and planning.
