The server greeted us with a smile, letting us know what the lunch specials were. All sounded delightful, but we were more in the panini mood. My choice was the Mussomeli. A wonderful blend of grilled eggplant, red roasted peppers, portobello mushrooms, and provolone cheese, topped off with a yummy pesto mayo. At $6.75 this sandwich was certainly a hit. The cheese was melted just right and the grilling was perfect. They have mastered the panini machine, not leaving the scorch marks that are so often the trademark of a grilled sandwich.

Traditionally with roasted turkey breast, tomatoes, swiss cheese and a Dijon peppercorn spread, she opted for the olive spread instead. She reports that the sandwich was scrumptious. At $6.50, the price isnit so bad either!

On our way out we chatted up the owner and found that the delectable cookies in the pastry case are actually homemade. Runfola is continuing the tradition of the previous owner by offering Mamma Mariais Homemade Italian Cookies. Cookie trays are available, or you can purchase them by weight. Unfortunately, our sandwiches were so filling that we had no room for dessert, but weill definitely try something next time!

La Dolce Vita offers many other Italian dishes, such as the Pasta alla Julianna (penne pasta tossed in extra virgin olive oil with fresh basil, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and sundried tomatoes, topped with goat cheese) at $13.95 straight up or, for a bit extra, you can add shrimp or chicken to the mix. They also offer wonderful Antipasti (Appetizers), Zuppa (Soup) and Insalada (Salad) along with Dek-Oven Pizzas and larger Entrees.

This is a great place to visit with friends, family or even out-of-town guests. La Dolce Vitais dining area seats twenty five to thirty people in both intimate and large group settings. The spacious patio is a wonderful place to dine in the open air and take in the Hertel Avenue experience. Many changes are coming to this area and summer is the best time to take it all in.

Oh n and donit forget the coffee! They have an extensive menu of Espresso drinks. Coffee and cookies n always the best choice for dessert.

If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine, in a relaxed atmosphere, look no further than La Dolce Vita. Be sure to visit their website at www.iloveladolcevita.com and stop on by whenever you are in the neighbourhood!

My wife and I just went to La Dolce Vita for dinner the other night. I ordered the Pasta alla Julianna with and it was fantastic. The goat cheese was the perfect compliment to the dish. My wife ordered the Pollo Picata with a bowl of mushroom soup. Everything was great and the service was excellent. One of my favorite restaurants on Hertel.

Don't forget to take a cup of stracciatella gelato to go for only $2
