Jim's SteakOut: 27 Years Strong

A couple of days ago I received a phone call from someone wondering what was going on with the Jim's SteakOut location at the corner of Elmwood and Allen. There was a big sign on the window that stated that the restaurant was closed for remodeling. I decided to call Dave Muscoreil, Director of Operations, to find out what sort of new look customers could expect when the location reopens. "We're overhauling the interior," he told me. "When they originally built that space, they did not anticipate that the business would grow the way that it has. That's our second busiest location (after Elmwood). We are redesigning the layout so that all of the seating will be at the front (instead of the back)... it's really going to be the exact opposite layout from what people are used to. It's going to be a brand new interior.
"That corner spot was originally built out in 1989, and back in '93 we expanded by incorporating another storefront that became available next door. We finally decided that the kitchen needed to be expanded to accommodate the growing business as well. As far as seating goes, we're only adding another six to eight seats, but the new layout will make the interior appear much more open and customer friendly. When I think about it, I still can't believe that we started off in a little hole in the wall on Elmwood 27 years ago. Jim Incorvaia (owner) and I both grew up on the West Side, and we're both dedicated to the city. He's a big supporter of Buffalo. In '06 we took over the former Quizno's location on Delaware (originally Montana Mills) and now we're going to be opening our 9th location in West Seneca. Business is very strong and we're continuing to grow. We're excited to reintroduce the new Jim's layout on Allen. The plan is to reopen that location in mid-March... just in time for Saint Patrick's Day."

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …

Great place to eat......Love the fajitas and the jefferson sub.
But man, this place has gotten expsensive. $3 for a small fajitas.
Also, someone should buy the guy on the third floor a bubble machine. So he doesn't have to hang out his window all day blowing the bubbles himself......thats got to be tiring.

The hot blue brings out sensations that I can't speak of in public. Simply one of the best subs around!
Glad to hear they are going to renovate the place. The layout is a little difficult to understand without going there often. Always people standing in the doorway because that is where the lone throws you. I am sure their new layout will make more sense! it is also great to see them investing back into the city a bit. I was starting to worry they might go the way of Mighty Taco / Teds, and close their city stores to keep expanding in the burbs.

Thanks for the update! I was wondering the same thing as I drove by the other day. Can't wait for the new improvements. No matter which one I go to, the chicken finger subs at 4am always rock!

Maybe it's just my imagination, but the food from this particular Jim's location always seems better than at any of the others. Or maybe it's just that I'm usually drunk when I go here, so everything tastes better.

Everytime I'm back in Buffalo I get loaded out of my mind at Pink and go to Jim's after last call. I'm already looking forward to it.

Good news, this particular location disgusts me, very dirty,i dont go to this one anymore for that reason, but i'll try it again after the remolding. The suburban Jim's tend to be much cleaner, however the food for some reason, not as good.

I find that they have an unparalleled selection of Mexican morsels this side of the Rio Grande. I burst out with a gaffaw whenever I see their jocular "Dead People" shirts.

mbhxam- I couldnt disagree more. Jims is good anytime day or night, sober and drunk. You dont open 9 locations over 27 years just from your 3-4 am crowd. And those of you complaining about the prices- well, you get what you pay for. You can grab some texas hots cheap, or some eggs if you dont feel like spending the money.
