Jimmy's BBQ

It has recently been taken over by Jimmy Hambridge, who has been involved with the establishment since it’s opening as the Brew in October of 2006, actually a day before that horrible storm. The Jimmy’s experience is enhanced by a charming, witty, engaging, personality from the owner/ bartender Jimmy. Always dressed in suspenders with each hair perfectly aligned, he is there to make your visit fun and comfortable.
The ambience of welcoming is an element of abundance at Jimmy’s; both at the bar and from the kitchen. Although the menu is in a state of transition, the food is excellent. He is keeping old favorites from the original menu such as the signature hot pepper roll up ($7.95), as well as many of the smokehouse and barbeque items, but adding new fare, including fresh fish, on Fridays.

The menu is full of tasty comfort food and great side dishes. His French fries are amazing. Cut from whole potatoes, they are full of flavor and well balanced between crunchy and soft (seriously some of the best I have had, period). The coleslaw is delicious--crunchy, sweet, and tangy, and my occasional mac and cheese attacks are more than satisfied with Jimmy’s. I also appreciate the barbeque salads; comfort food with fresh veggies and mixed greens, all in one dish.
A front patio, a parking lot, a great bar, impressive food, and the one of a kind Jimmy. My friends were right: Jimmy’s on Elmwood is worth the visit. They are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday 11:30 to 11, Saturdays 12:00 to 11:00, and Sundays 3:00 to 11, and for happy hour Monday through Friday, 4PM to7PM.

You know how sometimes you have a conversation with someone and come away with the impression that things are good, and everything is as it should be? After I spoke with the Cichocki Brothers at Camellia Foods, a 3rd generation Polish Sausage and Ham producer in Buffalo, I came away knowing that at the center of everything they do is Family Tradition—as it should be.
The Cichocki brothers, Peter, Patrick and Eric, are at the helm of their Grandfather Edmund’s business that h …
Last month, when I asked readers to list five places they couldn’t live without, several folks mentioned Amy’s Place. A few of them specifically recommended the Margie Meal. So it was with great anticipation that I recently made my first visit to this very cool establishment. Why it took me so long to try this place, I’ll never know. Suffice to say that I’m already looking forward to my next meal there.
I liked the vibe right away when I noticed a sign on the wall that sa …
A muse is intended to inspire, and this restaurant certainly will encourage one's own imagination. Playful dishes blur the suggested lines between modern and classic, sweet and savory, and the even the line between food and art.
A beautiful complement to one of our city’s greatest treasures, Muse at the Albright-Knox, is a perfect start or end to a day of stirring your senses. Sophisticated and subtle, the ambience of Muse’s space fits the Albright well--modern yet invit …
On a recent summer afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting with one of Buffalo’s leading chefs, Jennifer Boye. My visit with Jennifer took place in the Fireside Salon of The Mansion on Delaware Avenue where she is currently the Executive Chef for special events.
During our conversation I learned that Chef Boye, who is Buffalo born and raised, began her career in 1997. After graduating from the Erie Community Collage Culinary Arts Department she started working for one of her i …

Kentucky Greg's Hickory Pit out in the burbs is my all-time favorite. He just opened a second location in Orchard Park that is supposed to be a unique dining experience. I have yet to check out the new location but the one on George Urban Blvd. never disappoints. Quality BBQ, homemade sides and bangin' gumbo.

Alright.....i disagree. I went here a few weeks back. It might have been still owned by the previous people.
But the bbq ribs were some of the biggest and fatest i've ever had. bbq was good as well as the side. And reasonably priced.
I gave it a B+

Heard great things about Kentucky Gregs but dont think the OP location will make it. Heard that Kentucky Greg makes the best gumbo in the city.. Make the drive to Rochester for Dinosaur BBQ. It blows them all away

Epicurean, of course you can't beat the Dino! Even worth the 2 hour wait in Syracuse.

I've been there and I like it, although I don't agree with the resturant soaking my pulled pork with bbq sauce which in the bbq world is sacrilege. I did like what i could taste of the pork, I do love the fresh cut fries, which a lot of places don't do.
I'm always in search for some good Q, and this place is pretty good, although I haven't tested the ribs, which in my opinion is the true test. I also like the bar area (nice HDTV), and outside porch.
One Eye'd Jacks in Lockport has great bbq, the sides are fair. Kentucky Gregs is good, I love the fried Okra as well. Al E Oops in Lancaster is really good, it's been a while since I last went though.
Fat Bob's hasn't been good in years, and the Valley Inn is by far the worst BBQ in the area.
I know it's obvious, but what Buffalo needs is the Dino! I'm really suprised they haven't put one here. They got one in Cuse, Rochester, and NYC. They could put one almost anywhere downtown and it would be packed, I know so many people who make the ride out to Rochester. I've been to a lot of famous places in Kansas, Tennessee, Texas, and the Carolinas, the Dino is equal to or way better.

Want to try the BEST Smoked BBQ food in Buffalo? Try The Lafayette Tap Room Bar-B-Que & Blues Saloon 391 Washington Street Downtown. They are with out a doubt the best BBQ in this area. Voted Best Pulled Pork last year at the Taste of Buffalo. They have BBQ Chicken Wings that are out of this world. They put the wings in their smoker first then BBQ them on the grill !! I predict these to win best BBQ wings at this years Buffalo Wingfest.

Not only was the Barbecue great before and after the owners changed hands, but who could ask for a better atmosphere!! Jimmy is awesome, the food is awesome, and the prices are reasonable!!! Anyone who wants a chain resturaunt in Buffalo, instead of a good old fashioned mom and pop place is crazy. You must not care about Buffalo enough! If you have not visited Jimmy's place yet, you will not be disappointed. If you have and were unhappy about it, try again. I doubt you will be disappointed twice. The bar atmosphere is almost the best part of this place. Drinks are cheap, the bartenders are awesome, and getting food at the bar is always available. If anything Jimmy, the bartender, is the biggest asset. If you want a nice, relaxed atmosphere, cheap drinks and the best barbecue in town you should try Jimmy's place. `
