One of the most interesting liquor stores in the country is undoubtedly Hodge Wine & Liquor. Not only does it offer Buffalo a great array of wine and spirits, it is also rich with history and boasts a cellar that would inspire awe amongst the world’s most ardent connoisseurs. Today, YUM! contributor and wine aficionado Alphonse DiMino chats with Jim Pepe, owner of Hodge Wine & Liquor.

You can look forward to spending more time with Alphonse, both in print and online, as he explores shops, tours vineyards and interviews local winemakers. Later this week you'll have the opportunity to learn a little about Sauvignon Blanc, so stop by the YUM! channel and take a peek.

Alphonse is cute AND smart. I can't wait to see more. Will it be a series?

    Maggie_D,

You can expect to see Alphonse at least once a week. Sauvignon Blanc will be the first varietal he tackles, with many others to follow. We'll also follow him into the vineyards and on visits with winemakers. I'm glad you like the video, I'm sure Alphonse is too.

Thanks Christa. I love what you're doing about food in the city. Will there be a bio of Alphonse? Is he a somalier somewhere in Buffalo? And have you ever thought of inviting BRO readers to regular wine tastings?

Thanks Maggie for the nice comment. I'm the wine director at the buffalo chop house. If you really like wine, I encourage you to drop in and check out my wine list, its the best in the city. I also like the idea of doing tastings. I'm sure we can figure something out.
