Free Happy To Be Here Happy Hour

You must be there tomorrow for Party Squad – and tell us who you want to headline the Block Party. Plus, you can enter to win two Southwest Airline tickets. Just write 150 words (while you’re there) on what you like about Buffalo. The winner must use the tickets to bring friends or loved ones back to Buffalo. This is a great first stop on the Buffalo Homecoming trail. From Marti:
The Happy To Be Here Hour is ON for tomorrow (Friday May 30) at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Ballroom! Please send out e-mails to all of your contacts, blog, post, twitter, shout it from the rooftops…
The Town Ballroom is located at 681 Main Street

Maybe you read about this one last December, or maybe you took the time and looked over this one in April, and perhaps you considered attending this event back in June. Whatever your reasoning for putting it off, there’s no time like the present for Forgotten Buffalo, unless of course it’s the past.
Forgotten Buffalo Tours take participants on a journey into the history of the area, always striving to produce a unique and entertaining outing. Their success has allowed them to …
Last evening was the first time that I have ever attended the event, Party for the Parks held at the Marcy Casino. The parks gala started up just as the Burchfield-Penney showing was winding down, and has happened more than a few times this summer, the non-stop rain kept everyone guessing. By guessing, I mean that every time the band members would even look at their instruments the rain would start to fall. It was a good thing that the upper terrace was covered and the Marcy Casin …
According to Miguel Santos, one of the founders of the Puerto Rican Day Parade of WNY, starting the parade six years ago was a way of “recognizing that Buffalo’s Latino population continues to grow and we decided that it would be a great way to recognize this segment of the population.” Inspired by the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC, Santos, who is a local activist in the Latino community, got a call from Jose Rodriguez, and the rest is history.
Santos says, “We …
For the first time in over a hundred years, Buffalo has unveiled a brand new ($33,000,000, 84,000 sq.’) museum. Yesterday, hundreds of people met at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center to witness, not one, but three, ribbon cuttings. Fans and supporters were greeted by trumpeting didgeridoos as they walked into the vaulting entranceway – a walk that led them past the museum cafĂ©, the gift shop, the learning center, a conference center, studios, gallery spaces, and more gallery s …

Joshua - the Happy To Be Here Hours are FREE -- there is never an entry fee. That said, it's a buy-your-own scene (not open bar ;- ) The Town Ballroom has a bar but no kitchen. We're brainstorming a bit right now about food.
We generally have these monthly soirees in restaurants, so food is not an issue. But this is a special Block Party preview/promo. Suggestions re food are welcome. It's been suggested that I whip up a few batches of signature Buffalo Old HOme Week salsa and bring a bunch of chips -- but I'm not sure I have the bandwidth for this solution this week LOL...
FlyGuy - Yeah, the GooGoo Dolls are the perfect act for this event. We've been told that this is not even vaguely possible...but I am well known to be pathologically optimistic, so I've still got my fingers crossed and will continue to hold my breath. Wouldn't that just ROCK?! This would vault the entire event into high gear and seal its success, particularly were it possible to announce it (versus a surprise appearance). Even a cameo appearance by Robby would be wonderful gift. Any ideas on how to make this happen?

Oh I guess I am being optimistic also. I'm driving back home from central Virginia where I now live with a couple of Virginians and will be giving them the Bufalo tour of the sites that doesnt just come from a brochure. I know the streets and can get around the city and pretty much talk the whole way through it and up through the Tonawandas and Falls as well for that matter. I just think the event would "Rock" as you stated if we were able to land a band like the goo goo dolls considering we will have in town and relocated Buffalonians as well as some out of towners who have never been to the area before. What a first impression a live Goo Goo Dolls concert would bring to them!!! And what a great time!!!! PLus it would give the band a second chance to get a concert in Buffalo with nice weather instead of the drenching they got on the 4th of July a few years back although I must say it made for a great concert on DVD. I would suggest that the best possible way to get a concert like that would be to get one of the band members ears and let them know about the venue and how its for Buffalo, for the home crowd and hopefully for thousands of relocated folks as well.
