Guerrilla Gardeners Strike Again!

Without mercy, these radical community activists target overgrown patches of weeds throughout the city and turn them into future gardens. Last night the group hit a plot of land on Allen Street. The parcel had been overtaken by plastic cups, weeds, glass and lord knows what else. It took a of couple hours of digging through the weeds and debris before the soil could be properly navigated. The debris was removed and bulbs were planted. The lot is already looking 100% better, but just wait 'till next spring when the flowers come pushing through the soil. The Guerrilla Gardeners are actively seeking members (don't worry Jess, you're on the list) who would like to devote a couple hours a month to sprucing up the city in the dead of night. If you are interested, please send an email to queenseyes@adelphia.net.
Side Note: The Ninja Tag Removal Team is also currently soliciting members that would like to help rid the city of spray-paint tags. Please send an email to queenseyes@adelphia.net. Both groups are looking for donations.

A lot of people have done it. Maybe you've even tried it once or twice. You had one too many and instead of calling someone – a friend, your mom, your roommate – you got in the car and you drove home. You made it alive and without an arrest on your record and you swore it’d never happen again. If you don't live in one of those 'perfect' cities and you find that living in a city like Buffalo suits you better, I bet that you have a sense of humor regarding day-to-day quirkiness. There are times when you scratch your head and wonder what the heck is going on, right? Is UB still investing on a swamp in Amherst? Is someone paying off T …
In an 8-page response of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy regarding the Peace Bridge Expansion Project- Section 106 - Adverse Effect Finding, Olmsted attorney Arthur J. Giacalone has told the Public Bridge Authority that they haven't done a good job of the draft of their Environmental Impact Study (DEIS). The crux of the response according to Olmsted Conservancy President and CEO Thomas Herrera-Mishler is that the PBA DEIS doesn't take into account the original vision of the …

Good for you Guerrilla! I think all of our good neighbors can help at any time, even with only a second to spare: If you see it pick it up, and if it's a weed, pull it. What a difference such a small act can make.
