Grab and Go at the Elmwood Market Deli & Grill

The Elmwood Market is a newcomer to the Elmwood Village scene but it's making a great impression. It is a quaint market that packs a big lunch, they have a great deli and grill section that will make you want to grab something fresh and delicious before heading off to the beach, the park or back to work. You can grab pita, hummus and stuffed olives for a Mediterranean picnic or some yogurt, fruit and a wide variety of sandwich fixings for a family-friendly lunch. There have beer, organic soda, iced tea and so much more to quench your thirst.
If you have a minute, order one of Elmwood Markets many sandwiches or wraps.
You can choose from a fresh, spicy chicken wrap with Frank’s hot sauce or a Veggie wrap, which includes sautéed mushrooms, onions, spinach, tomato and cheese. The warmth and seasoning of the wrap complements the crispness of the fresh vegetables, making it a very flavorful wrap.
The market also features salads, hamburgers french fries, tacos and even a fish fry. For those of you who are in a rush, don’t despair; there is a great ready-made section with various salads and sandwiches. I sampled their seafood and antipasto salads which were both delicious. The seafood salad brought me back to when my family vacationed in New England, all I needed was a hot dog bun to put the salad in and I was right back there. There is sure to be something that will whet your appetite at the market.
So pack your picnic basket with some fresh sandwiches, salads, snacks and drinks and enjoy this beautiful summer while it lasts. The prices range from $4.99 for a small sandwich/sub to $6.99 for a wrap. Salads range from $1.50 to around $3. The $7.99 fish fry is the highest-priced deli item.

Ten years ago, the downtown of My Fair City was forever altered when a Big Dinosaur appeared on the scene. Thankfully—unlike 1950’s Tokyo—when this dino showed up our downtown wasn’t flattened, but considerably improved. Dinosaur Bar B Que, a restaurant that originated in downtown Syracuse in the 1980’s, planted its foot in downtown Rochester in 1998. It was an instant hit—it’s common to have a line waiting to get in at all times. And it’s clearly Hog Heaven— …
Cecelia’s Ristorante & Martini Bar is prepared to guide their guests through the tastes of fall with their brand new fall menu. Although it is getting a bit too cold for the patio, the hardy food inside will warm things right up.
I started out with the Harvest Salad ($8) and the “Lumpy” Crab Cakes ($9). The Harvest Salad was served with a rosemary citrus vinaigrette, and topped with apricots, beets, pine nuts, walnuts, dried cranberries, and other assorted dried fruits. …
One of the perks my daughter's friends enjoy about a sleepover at my home (other than rearranging the furniture for movie time) are the crepes I serve our guests in the morning.
I can remember sleepover breakfasts from when I was a kid that consisted of potato chips and soda from the night before. If the lack of sleep didn't make us dizzy and irritable enough, the fat, salt and sugar we ingested in the morning would make sure the entire day would be counted for lost. Ugh.

Steven Calvaneso, a well-known Buffalo entrepreneur who has launched a number of city and suburban restaurants during his career, is shrinking his holdings to a single restaurant location. The Buffalo News has the full story, but it's clear the one-time mayoral candidate has faced struggles with his many operations. As a result of these moves, Calvaneso is left with Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant on Chippewa and his catering operation at Babeville.

Sure the food is good and the place is kept clean, but what impresses me is how friendly the staff is. It is really refreshing to be greeted and spoken to like a human even if all your getting is a gallon of milk. The employees are not rude or on their cell phones like at most other convenience stores. We really didn't think we needed another small store like this in the neighborhood since there are 4 within four block of this location. They however have proven themselves to be an example for the others to follow.

I really love this place and ditti Antiques' remarks. Hey, Elmwood Market, I know another location you might be interested in - Carolina St & Johnson Park - it's on the market right now and we would welcome a business of your quality.

This market is a winner for Allentown. Staff is friendly, place is clean and inviting, great selection for on the run shopping. It makes all the other Allentown deli's look even more like the s**t holes they are.

I would agree with the above, but I was quite dissapointed that there was no sit-down option when I went to check it out. They really missed out on becoming a steady lunch option. (Unless however, they have since ammended this)

Is it just a coincidence that this article appeared around the same time as the Elmwood Market ad on Buffalo Rising? The place looks nice, and the deli section seems like it has some good options. Unfortunately, many of the grocery items cost twice as much as they do at Wilson Farms.

I agree that the staff is courteous. If they carried beer, this would be the only convenience store I would patronize.
