Falling short, again.

There weren't too many people giving the Bills any chance to win this week against the undefeated Colts. I myself was not expecting a win so that if we did end up making it a game it would make things all that much better. Well, we did end up making it a game, but fell just short.
Our offense was completely shut down this week, with the exception of Anthony Thomas who rumbled over the Colts to another career day. J.P. continues to look like a deer in headlights both on and off the field. This is the second week in a row that he has failed to crack the century mark passing the football. If you want to win in the NFL you usually have to throw for over a hundred yards, and a touchdown doesn't hurt either.
It seems that our Defense and Special Teams understands that it takes more than field goals to win games. Terrance McGee had an amazing game with over 100 yards returning the ball on special teams, and had a fumble recovery for a touchdown as well.
Even though we had the chance to win, on several occasions we failed to do so. It wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last. This team is young, and it will be a while before they are able put the safety on before shooting themselves in the foot.
J.P. is finally starting to show his true colors. Although much of the fault still resides with our offensive line for not giving him much time to develop the plays, he never seems to be upset about the team's play. On the sidelines during this game, there was a shot of J.P. staring blankly off inyo space while sitting on the bench. Rather than looking at photos of the opposing defense, or talking to his coach in the booth, he was in a complete daze and it showed on the field as well.
Good teams always find a way to win, and bad teams find ways to lose. Unfortunately I think it will be some time before our team finds a way to win on a consistent basis.

To be honest, I went out Wednesday night planning to chronicle the last night of this hockey season in Buffalo.
After the way Ottawa crushed the Sabres in Monday night’s third game of the Eastern Conference Finals, physically and spiritually, in perhaps the most one-sided 1-0 game ever played in any sport, the logical conclusion was that Buffalo’s seven-month run as the new glamour team of the National Hockey League was in its death throes.
Teams come back from 3-0 deficits …
Shows how much I know.
Last week’s preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators was rife with wisecracks about John Muckler, Ray Emery, Daniel Alfredsson and even the Roman Senate.
All wrong, as it turns out, with the possible exception of the bit about the machismo exhibited by ancient Rome’s legislative body.
I was not, however, the only one in these parts who badly underestimated Ottawa, judging from Buffalo’s performance …
