Edritos Comes to Hertel

Edritos Comes to Hertel

Story Options

The day Edritos opened on Elmwood Avenue several years ago, I was a happy man. I powered down more than my fair share of burritos back in those days. When it moved downtown into the Key Center, I no longer frequented the establishment. I just wasn’t downtown often enough to stop in. But Edritos has moved again, this time to Hertel Avenue between Parkside and Wallace.

My wife and I dropped by for takeout earlier today. I am pleased to report that my burrito was as delicious as the first one I had from the Elmwood location so many years ago. I got a steak and black bean burrito, and my wife chose a veggie burrito, which she enjoyed. Long-time customers know the deal: freshly made burritos, tacos, and taco salads. For the most part, the menu is the same as it’s always been, though I don’t remember fish tacos in the original location, and they are listed on the menu as “coming soon.”

Edritos has plenty of seating for those who wish to dine in, and they offer business delivery within a three mile radius. They open at 11:00 every day except Sunday, when they are closed.

I also, was happy to see Edritos come to hertel, but after grabbing a few burritos there the other night, I was sadly disappointed.

I dropped in to pick up two chicken burritos for my girlfriend and myself, take-out, and ordered one with sour cream and guac, and the other just sour cream.

Total Price: $18.xx, no drinks, no sides.

Now that is a ridiculous price for two burritos, I was charged $1.50 for a spoonful of guacamole!!!

I would rather head down to the Lone Star, even if there are some dead cockroachs sticking out behind the decor... at least it is decently priced.

Never heard of the restaurant - will have to stop and pick up some burritos. Another question --- what is up with the Hertel-Parkside Px building? What is in there now?

From what I read, the pharmacy is a non-profit performance venue called bon vivant.

    Josh,

I think its now some sort of art/performance space. i received a handbill and promptly lost it. So to answer your question, there is defiantly something there ~ at least sometimes.

Great news but I hate the mandatory signage uniformity on this building. Let the business owners put up their own signs which will make the building look more like it belongs in real city rather than the suburban-like blandness the awful current signage espouses.

I am so excited that they are back! I have missed them since they were forced to vacate their Key Center location. I even tried to find a replacement (Ava Codo's by UB South Campus came closest but no cigar). Everything they serve up is most excellent and filling. Their new location is only a few doors down from Advance Care Chiropractic and the Elmwood Yarn Shop and my family frequents both of these venues. I know that I will soon have an opportunity to have delicious meal.

Edrito's is the closest anyone in WNY has come to a good Taqueria. Yes, they have always been a little pricey especially if you go there on a regular basis -- but that was partially because they didn't skimp on the ingredients (or at least, they didn't used to -- though according to tmarks this may have changed). The good thing is that one burrito can fill you up for a whole day :) --

Does anyone know if the original owner, James is behind this? There had been a rumor that the former employees of the Key Center were looking to re-open without him as he was not interested in another go around.

Looks like I'm going to Edritos on Friday!

I went there a week ago and I thought it was super... and I lived in California for many years... so I'm kind of a burrito snob.

FYI: This place has TONS of room. Would be a good place to bring the kids for dinner.
