Don't Just Walk... Nordic Walk.

There are more and more diverse activities taking place around town, which is cool because that means that the businesses are offering programs and events to keep residents busy. Group bike rides leave from Campus Wheel Works... Roswell is offering guided walking tours... fencing at the Lafayette church, and now Fleet Feet is jumping into the scene (again) by introducing weekly Nordic Walks that launched May 9th from the shop at 892 Elmwood Avenue (6pm).
For those of you who may not be familiar with these types of walks, there will be instructions on how to use the walking poles to their full potential. And if you don't have your own poles, Fleet Feet will provide them.
Nordic Walks are great for getting into shape. They use many of the same principles as cross-country skiing, which means that the process offers a full body workout. Below are some of the health advantages to Nordic Walking:
Burn more calories - Increase oxygen consumption up to 25% - Reduce stress to your knees and lower back - Reduce heel strike impact - Strengthen your upper body - Build better bone density
Get with the program and exercise outside with some friends. For more information, call Fleet Feet at 716-332-3501.

Luckily, Trudy Stern didn’t want anyone to miss out and teamed up with Michael Morgulis to produce an incredibly fine, unbound book entitled “Tea Leaves” to commemorate the readings and spread the work of the local poets who partook in the program.
In honor of the publication of this special edition portfolio, Morgulis and Stern are hostin …
I think that I would like to start off this post by commending the three Common Council members who were bold enough to ask for today's bizarre Waterfront Village decision to be tabled. David Franczyk, Mickey Kearns and Mike LoCurto all stuck to their guns when it came to holding off on making any hasty (and potentially tragic) decisions regarding our waterfront. Unfortunately, their headstrong stance was outweighed by the rest of the BURA committee, and the rumors are flying as t …
A development team has been selected for a vacant commercial site in Waterfront Village. Finally. The Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency this morning named Specialty Restaurants Incorporation as preferred developer for the prime 1.4 acre parcel at 10-15 LaRiviere Drive. The owner of the adjacent Shanghai Red’s restaurant is proposing an uninspired, four-story, 100 room Wingate Inn.
