DISCS Pilot Screening Is A Succes

Upon arrival at the screening, these privileged viewers were welcomed with a great selection of wine and hors d'oeuvres. J.J. Alfieri, Co-Producer (3C Multimedia) stood by the main lobby door and greeted every one of the one-hundred and fifty guests viewing the pilot. When I approached him, he gave me a warm handshake and grinned from ear to ear. “This was a great collaboration between two local companies, Bidwell Productions and 3C Multimedia,” he told me. “I believe there is an underground movement of young filmmakers. I'm proud to be a part of that epicenter.”
J.J. Alfieri is not the only one who is proud. Hallwalls was filled with Buffalonians who were beaming with pride, knowing that a television series could potentially be filmed in their own backyards. The pilot opened with clips of familiar intersections within the Queen City and was filmed on location at Spot Coffee and New World Records. “3C Multimedia and Bidwell Productions have such a long relationship with Spot Coffee and New World Records,” Alfieri stated. “They were just great to let us do this. What a great location.”
The screening room was packed to the brim and the pilot itself was dramatic, gripping and even a bit humorous. The actors cheered each other on, while investors took note of the unity and determination between cast and crew. Scott Celani, who plays the lead role, said of the experience, “It was exhausting yet amazing. The energy was great, and everyone was excited to be a part of it.”

So we've heard about the turnout, but was the show any good? It's great that local filmmakers are making a TV program, I hope they have the skill to make it. I've worked on a few pilots and the rate of failure is tremendous, and it really doesn't matter what big names or experienced directors you have working on the project, it's gotta stand on it's own and be solid. I'd like to see how it goes when you screen it somewhere other than buffalo. Home town pride usually clouds judgment.
Having said that, I wish them all lots of luck. I like what I've read so far.

What representatives from VH1 were in attendance ? Someone who works for VH1 or someone who works in development? What media types? Buffalo news writers, bloggers, it makes a difference. The number of things people in Buffalo try to do that gety hyped is large. First question-Who are the actors? Are they known in the TV world? If not, is the idea to sell a TV pilot with unknowns? If so, why2. How will this be marketed? 3. What networks have been approached about this? 3. Other than Buffalo where will this be screened? Why was this a private event? Wouldn't it have been better if the public was invited-isn't that a better representative than a closed event? I wish it well. It seems like it might have some big hills to get over first.
