Coda- It's not your 'everynight' restaurant.

This restaurant is not on any of the main drags, it won't serve up ordinary everyday food, and it doesn't seat a lot of people. These are just a few of the reasons that make the new Coda a 'must go to' restaurant in the city. Remember the oil and canvas painting called Nighthawks created by Edward Hopper (Thanks MQ) in 1942? Nighthawks was actually inspired by a real diner in Hopper's NY neighborhood. Well, take that scene and throw in (Buffalo's own) Charles Burchfield's Rainy Night painting and I think you might capture a hint of Coda's soulful ambiance.

The Coda blends quiet sophistication with a contemporary cullinary flare that one might find while dining at one of Manhattan's hidden haunts. When you step into The Coda, you are stepping back into a world of hand-dyed black chef jackets and cultural decadence. The Coda is a re-creation of one of the most intriguing and magically hidden hotspots in the City of Buffalo. It sits just off Symphony Circle behind Kleinhans Music Hall. Last night was its opening night.

The Coda 350 Pennsylvania Street 716.362.0435. Open Thu, Fri, Sat @ 5pm and will soon be open for brunch.

Thanks for the mention Newell, you still need to come in for dinner. I'd like to invite everyone to visit the website, and check out the menu for this week. We will change the menu every week, and it will go out via email on Monday night. We have started our ease into Sundays by offering supper from 5 until 9pm. Restaurant Industry professionals will be discounted. Brunch will be appearing in about six weeks, when we have things running a little smoother in the kitchen.
