Calling all Infringers!

The deadline for projects proposals for this year’s Buffalo Infringement Festival is fast approaching – proposals are due Friday, April 27, 2007. While the Infringement crew will still try and take proposals after that date, anyone who wants a guaranteed slot and top consideration should get your proposals in before the deadline. This year’s festival will run from Thursday, July 26th through Sunday, August 5th. As always, all proposals that are legal and physically possible will be accepted. All art forms -- dance, poetry, music, theatre, painting, performance art, film – and whatever else you can think of -- are encouraged to apply.
Applications are available here, or just check out their website. Buffalo looks forward to another great explosion of "under the radar" art at this year's festival – why not get in touch with your inner performance artist and get involved? Fringe art festivals are one of the few chances in life to really cut loose and let your dreams come true, take chances, and experiment. There is no wrong answer. How many other events can say that? Other upcoming Infringement events include: -- Fund raiser Party at Nietzsche's Bar (248 Allen Street) on Saturday, April 28th from 7 PM – 1AM -- Infringement Organizers' Meeting at Staples Bar (251 Allen Street) on Monday, May 7th at 6:30PM

With a new album hot off the press, this Buffalo folkie chats with Buffalo Rising about the traditional music of New York State, song collecting, and how quitting his day job was among the best things he’s ever done.
AZ: How did folk music, especially historic folk music, become the focus of your career?
DR: Gosh, good question. I wonder that myself sometimes. As I look back, it’s been a long, gradual, even logical progression to this point, but one that I could never hav …
