Buffalo Homecoming Weekend Gets Rocky

The Buffalo Arts Council will be putting on the Rocky Horror Picture Show at 11:30pm on Friday June 27th and twice on Saturday June 28th, once at 10am and then a traditional midnight showing. It may seem a little early to report on something happening in June, but that’s because the council is looking for people to play the characters and there will be a sign up sheet this Saturday.
Celeste Lawson, Executive Director for the Buffalo Arts Council says, “We were looking to do Rocky Horror apart from that weekend, and then thought that weekend might be a fun time to do it because the organizers hope to have an event filled weekend with all sorts of activities.”
Lawson says they are looking for people to play Rocky, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Brad, Janet, Magenta, Riff Raff, Eddie, and Professor Von Scott. The moviegoers will get to be the chorus of Transylvanians. The sign-up for characters is first come first serve, but they will need to be dependable. If a competition for the character occurs, Lawson says they will be judged on personality, availability, and maturity. They want people who will help the audience participate while maintaining control so that things do not get out of hand.
Lawson says, “This is a first-time venture for the Arts Council, the proceeds of which will benefit the technical assistance programs of the Arts Council. We want to encourage folks to participate in Buffalo Homecoming Weekend and we want to reach out to try and find some new potential arts council friends by doing something different...and I believe there is kind of a built in fan base of this film that is helpful as well.”
You can sign up to be a character starting May 10th at 11am at the Arts Council office at 700 Main Street #1. You can find out more about the Arts Council at their website.

Back when video games were still in their infancy, developers relied on whichever computer system they were programming for to create any kind of audio for their games. Today's video games can sound like anything from an orchestra to a jazz band because the audio is pre-recorded and loaded onto a CD, eliminating the need to rely on the limited resources a primitive computer provides.
