Buffalo Homecoming 2008


June 26th has been labeled "Eat your Heart Out, Buffalo" and calls for Buffalonians to eat in restaurants that they have never been to all over the city.
On June 27, the Buffalo Technology Entrepreneur Conference will be held at The Statler - The Grand Ballroom, at 9 AM for no charge. This net-working event is an opportunity for large companies to share their success stories, mid-level companies to meet with new customers, and smaller companies that are just beginning to gain advice and share their ideas.
Also on June 27, A Career Fair will be held at the Statler - The Terrace Room from 9AM - 2 PM free of charge. This annual fair will portray over forty companies that are currently hiring. Later that night, Arts in the Park will take place on the back steps of the Albright-Knox and in the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park from 5 - 8PM. This free event will feature music and display many of Buffalo's arts and cultural organizations. Beer and wine tasting will also be available along with the opportunity to row a boat on local Hoyt Lake.
June 28 is a chance for Buffalonians to embark on dozens of tours throughout the greater Buffalo area. Tours range from the downtown housing tour displaying Buffalo's fantastic architecture to the Erie Canal Harbor Tour full of Buffalo history.
June 28 at night. Join the Buffalo Homecoming Block Party in The Theater District -- the entire 600 Block of Main Street, From 8PM to Midnight. It will feature iconic Buffalo bands on an outdoor stage in front of Studio Arena.
Finally, June 29, is the Buffalo Homecoming Sunday Brunch. This event will take place on the Zoofari Patio, at the Buffalo Zoo from 10:00AM - 2:00PM, featuring a great selection of ethnic Buffalo food. Tickets will be sold at all Wegmans locations. Adult tickets will be $12, children under twelve will be $8, and family packs of four will be $30. Prices at the door will be $15 for adults, $10 for children under twelve, and family packs of four will be $40.
Buffalo has been nicknamed "The City of Good Neighbors" because of its friendly atmosphere and true sense of community. Ontario Specialty Contracting Inc.(OSC) has been chosen by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) Board of Directors to perform demolition on the Memorial Auditorium. The ECHDC authorized a nearly $1.5M contract with the Buffalo-based firm, the lowest bidders for the demo out of 11 companies.
In addition, OSC will grind the concrete for reuse, rather than simply disposing of it.
