Buffalo Gets A PUSH

If you read this post nearly a month ago, you may be dying to hear updates for PUSH Buffalo taking place this weekend. One of the things left up in the air for the party was who would be providing the pizza. Turns out La Nova’s won over Just Pizza for this year’s party, however, that won’t be the only food available.
There will also be Sahlen’s hotdogs, Perry’s Ice Cream, Ciao Bella desserts, and tons of wings from McFadden’s and Atomic – wing places located in NYC. The event will also feature Labatt and Flying Bison, making the event truly one-of-a-kind. The party has also managed to land some pretty large prizes.
With 250-350 people expected to attend, the Buffalo natives who arrive will be pleasantly surprised to discover chances to win several VH1-related raffle prizes. Buffalo native Tom Calderone of VH1 heard about the party and decided to help out. Likewise, a Buffalonian who works for the NY Jets donated tickets to the Buffalo Bills/NY Jets game in NYC that includes a parking pass.
There will also be Bills tickets for games in Buffalo, New Era authentic MLB baseball gear, a dress from Buffalo-born international designer Mara Hoffman, and gift certificates from some of Buffalo’s finest restaurants. While dining and having the opportunity to win great prizes, guests will also hear music spun by DJ Rabbi Darkside, who has gained a lot of notoriety from his appearance on MTV and accolades from Moving In Stereo, The New York Times, and SPIN. DJs LoPro and I&T will also be there.
The party takes place on top of SEIU 1199 and overlooks Times Square. Tickets are just $25 and proceeds go towards continuing PUSH’s mission of rebuilding Buffalo one house at a time. Specifically for this year's party, the proceeds go to 19th Street in Buffalo. This is their second annual Bringing Buffalo Back celebration and it sounds as though it will definitely top last year’s. If you’re going to be in Manhattan this weekend, you may want to check it out.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …

Fredericksburg, VA also has a Bills Backers down at Hard Times Cafe. The list of Bills Backers clubs is quite extensive throughout the Country. I think the FBurg location has about 150 members in all. Usually 20-30 show up for games.

Nothing beats Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Hernden, VA, near Dullas Airport. He is a true blue Buffalonian who never forgot where he came from and throws the best Bills game parties at his bar. Although, the Metro ride back home from Mcfaddens in Foggy Bottom used to be too temping and much safer after drowning yourself after a Bills loss.
