Buffalo Favs @ K Gallagher's

K Gallagher’s, situated in the heart of Allentown, belongs on your list of places to try. During a recent visit I enjoyed a fish fry, priced reasonably at $8.95. The portion size was generous and was accompanied by delicious french fries.
Joining me for lunch was my wife and our 3-month-old son, who quickly fell asleep to the pleasant jazz music playing in the background. My wife, who was impressed with the French Onion soup ($3) and the Buffalo Style Chicken Finger Wrap ($7.95), made an interesting observation: every item on the menu is less than $10. The menu offers a variety of wraps, sandwiches, and burgers (I plan to try the Greek Feta Burger sometime). Indeed, K Gallagher’s is a great place for a lunch date or for hanging out with friends without having to break the bank.
Just as it is essential to have a list of must-visit places for fish frys, so too is it crucial to have a list of favorite spots for chicken wings. I’ve actually been disappointed with the quality of wings I’ve eaten lately in Buffalo (is that sacrilegious?) but honestly, the wings I’ve had recently have either been undercooked, dry, or small. This was not the case at K Gallagher’s. The wings ($7.95 for ten) were big, saucy, perfectly cooked, and the best-tasting I’ve had in a long time.
The atmosphere at K Gallagher’s is casual. The bright dining area soaks in sunshine from Allen Street. It was a popular destination on the Friday we visited. There was ample seating to accommodate the many folks who seemed to be on a temporary escape from work.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is coming soon. K Gallagher’s would be the perfect place to hang out before taking in the parade. You can treat yourself to a Guinness, as I did during our visit. There have been many times in my life when I have experienced the frustration of ordering a Guinness, only to be told “Sorry, we’re out” or to be handed one that was carelessly poured. At K Gallagher’s, however, I thoroughly enjoyed a Guinness that was poured with care. It won’t be long before I head back for a bite to eat and a pint to drink.

You know how sometimes you have a conversation with someone and come away with the impression that things are good, and everything is as it should be? After I spoke with the Cichocki Brothers at Camellia Foods, a 3rd generation Polish Sausage and Ham producer in Buffalo, I came away knowing that at the center of everything they do is Family Tradition—as it should be.
The Cichocki brothers, Peter, Patrick and Eric, are at the helm of their Grandfather Edmund’s business that h …
Last month, when I asked readers to list five places they couldn’t live without, several folks mentioned Amy’s Place. A few of them specifically recommended the Margie Meal. So it was with great anticipation that I recently made my first visit to this very cool establishment. Why it took me so long to try this place, I’ll never know. Suffice to say that I’m already looking forward to my next meal there.
I liked the vibe right away when I noticed a sign on the wall that sa …
A muse is intended to inspire, and this restaurant certainly will encourage one's own imagination. Playful dishes blur the suggested lines between modern and classic, sweet and savory, and the even the line between food and art.
A beautiful complement to one of our city’s greatest treasures, Muse at the Albright-Knox, is a perfect start or end to a day of stirring your senses. Sophisticated and subtle, the ambience of Muse’s space fits the Albright well--modern yet invit …
On a recent summer afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting with one of Buffalo’s leading chefs, Jennifer Boye. My visit with Jennifer took place in the Fireside Salon of The Mansion on Delaware Avenue where she is currently the Executive Chef for special events.
During our conversation I learned that Chef Boye, who is Buffalo born and raised, began her career in 1997. After graduating from the Erie Community Collage Culinary Arts Department she started working for one of her i …

This is a good place to go for good food in the 10 to 15 dollar range. It's far better than a chain, and not your standard bar fare.

You got this one right. Locally owned and operated. Everything on the menu is quality. Give the meat loaf a shot for dinner & the burgers are great anytime. Don't pass up any of the soups, they change daily and French Onion is always on the menu. I've tried to strangle some recipe's out of Mike, but to no avail.

I think it's disgusting that people go to this place. I'm going to have a stake out and photograph individuals going in and post their images on a Website. You vile degenerates are brining down society.

I believe simcoe forgot to take her meds today, or has been forgotting to take them regularly. Gallaghers (Todd, you misspelled it in the title) is an awesome place to go, they have great food and the drinks are very reasonably priced. I go there regularly for lunch and also for a few drinks on the weekends, never have I been disappointed with my trip there. You can take my picture simcoe, but you'll see me leaving with a smile, a full stomach, and a wallet that has not been burdened. :)
Brighten up simcoe, every post you have ever made on BR is extremely negative. See http://www.buffalorising.com/profile/simcoe . If you need some help getting a hold of your negativity, I'm sure there's lots of people who would love to write you a script for some sertraline or fluoxetine.
On a more positive note: Thanks for the great article Todd, I have yet to try their fish fry, and will definitely give it a shot next time I'm in there!

If she forgot to take her meds, she should keep forgetting every day. Her comment is funny and clearly has nothing to do with KG's. See yesterday's 'pathetic or potential' article's comment stream for context of her sature.

or her satire, whatever.
KG's does have great food, everybody should know that already.

They are even better, if possible, than Arthur Treacher's.

MVP Carl,
That was my misspelling, not Todd's. Thanks for the heads up, we'll take care of it right away.
Sorry about that, Todd. And, btw, we're thrilled to have you here on YUM. Great post!

MVPCarl-Mostly negative comments eh? I know I'm quite the anomaly on BRO. And thank you Atwater for clarifying things for him, though I'm not sure it will sink in as he seems a bit thick. Do you honestly think anyone would photograph people going into a restaurant & post their pics on a derogatory Website? Jesus Christ!

Hey Atwater...I've never been to the joint and I do believe I will have to pay them a visit now...Do these type of posts bother you?

eisenm11 - No, not at all, it's what they do of course. My 'everybody should know that already' was facetious. Part of my eye rolling reaction to somebody taking seriously simcoe's joke. If you look at context again that should be clear. Yes, go to the joint - you'll like it. And yes, you should've known about it already (j/k).
