Boosing TV Gets Totally Repaired

Boosing TV Gets Totally Repaired

Story Options

When I first saw that the former Boosing TV repair shop was getting a make-over, I didn't expect that in just a short period of time Elmwood would be staring at a completely new facade. It looks as if the exterior work is now complete (for the most part), and if you've looking at this set of commercial spaces (one vacant and one a laundry) for as long as I have, then it's almost surreal to see the transformation. For two years we have been discussing the day when this structure would clean up. And clean up it did... the building now looks brand new. If I didn't have a photo of the building as it was I may not have recognized it at all.

In a previous thread, scooter commented on what potential this corner really has. Its proximity to Buffalo State College, successful neighboring businesses... and it's in the middle of a solid neighborhood. I've yet to hear back as to whether the Laundromat will be coming back after the build-out is completed. And the only hint that I've noted about the former Boosing space is word that the original rendering showed some sort of gourmet food sign in the drawing. Whatever does eventually occupy the two spaces at the corner of Elmwood and Bird, we can only hope that restoration will bring with it some exciting businesses.

FINALLY, someone with some foresight. Evey building on Elmwood and Hertel needs a face lift like this.

it is much better for business.

APPEARING BROKE TO OUTSIDERS WILL NEVER ATTRACT BUSINESS.

Get JP Lossman out on the streets and start cleaning this place up.

ok, honestly, why did they get rid of the brick between the 1st and 2nd floor....I hope that they put an awning there because its lost alot of its character....by doing it....and a few pots with shrubs would humanize the exterior.

Johnson and Sons did the work. It was half paid for through a grant from the Elmwood Village Association.

I'm melting in my chair right now because three years ago, I had this incredibly vivid dream about this building and it was remodeled EXACTLY as it appears above! The Deja Vu is more than I can take....and so is this hideously ugly redo.

it is great to see this kind of reinvestment and improvement into the facade of buildings in our city. Unfortunately this one isn't the best that could have been. But at the same time is still 1000x better than what could have been. At least they didn't just cover the brick with some sort of stucco crap and then scrap in a couple lines to call it detail like most things nowadays.

This is a good investment and should really help to draw businesses into these storefronts.

and adding a nice awning in those white curved areas would go a long way to improving these storefronts even more.

And I think it is a fair bet that we ALL invest much more than a dime every time we frequent one of these stores. That argument means that only rich people with investment capital can actually have and voice their opinion about the city. Sorry but good ideas are not limited to the haves.

I think this is a great remodel. Look - maybe they did use Lowe's materials but so what? Every single remodeling project within a 10 square mile radius of the Delaware District cannot be done using exact replicas of 10 year old items. The price would be completely cost prohibitive.

Considering the history of this particular building I think this is really great start to a new era. (I am oretty sure there was a horrific murder many years ago one of the upstairs apartment....I think late 70's or early 80's?) If I had a retail business, I would rent these spaces in a minute. Many of the older storefronts on Elmwood are rundown from years of lack of basic maintenace from previous absentee landlords.

Anyone know if there are tenants lined up yet? Have the interiors been remodeled as well?

    Great Job.

I like the white above the windows......it breaks up the all brick facade and is the perfect place for the retailers sign....the white will really draw our attention to it. Exactly what retailers want.

Hey, it's better than what was going on there before the remodel. Anyhow it doesn't look as if anything has been done that can't be changed easily in the future should someone have a better idea.

The black notches you see embeded in the brick could be either for new lighting fixtures or for an awning. So I hope you can post an updated photo of their work when it's fully complete.

    Great job!
