BNE gets 'Bono fide' in Boston

Submission from BNE's Adair Luhr with updates from the Bio International Convention in Boston.
It's amazing - the world leaders in biotechnology gathered at the bio conference today. Buffalo Niagara Enterprise representatives met with companies that were interested in learning more about Buffalo Niagara, and on multiple occasions, defended and won arguments with national companies about the rising opportunities and growing companies in Buffalo Niagara. The trip has gained a lot of interest in the Buffalo Niagara Bio opportunities.
Unfortunately, the prospects that we are talking to are confidential. What we can say is that the expanding businesses are often looking to consolidate into one facility, and when that happens they start to look around at other markets. In the last six months alone, five Bio Companies have relocated or started-up in WNY. We are hi-lighting those companies in order to draw others to the area. If we show that Buffalo is advancing in the bio-medical sector (and it is) then the market becomes more attractive. We are also talking to the trade magazines at the conference… telling them all about our recent successes. The business development side is actually meeting with 15 (pre-qualified) companies that have expressed an interest in learning more... and by the end we are hoping to talk to 50+ interested parties. We have more to offer than ever before, so companies are really taking notice.
On an unexpected note - we met Bono. It was surreal - he was a completely beautiful gentlemen. He said, "Buffalo Rocks!" and we gave him a Buffalo Niagara pin. It's amazing when you meet someone like that - someone who literally rocks your world. He was so nice and complimentary towards Buffalo.
What is really ironic - Tom Kucharski responded to a Business First Survey a few weeks ago and said of anyone living, he would want to meet Bono - and today he did.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …

My first thought of viewing this picture was - THAT'S NOT BONO. Then I looked it up on Google News - it was a Bono impersonator from California. Oh well, hopefully the rest of the BIO conference went well for the BNE.

I don't know who is dumber. These guys or Antoine Thompson.
If these clowns can't tell the difference between the real and a fake Bono (and yes, this goof is a fake. he was in Boston doing this conference http://www.bonodouble.com/upcomingappearances.html) no wonder these dumbasses never bring any business to the city.
What a bunch of stupid clueless ineffective airhead cheerleaders. Pathetic.

Still feel that way?
Kudos for the work BNE does though.

I don't even know what to say. These people are responsible for helping bring companies to Buffalo and yet they were fooled by a Bono impersonator. My first thought was "that guy isn't Bono" With these jackasses in charge we're better off hoping companies come here on their own account like Labatt USA did.

QUESTION - are these the three people " excluding Bono " that are responsible for the promotion and marketing of our greatest asset; our medical campus????

Give em a break guys. They're doing great work out there promoting Buffalo. Their efforts will bring us jobs and new development. The fact that they're not experts in identifying celebrity impersonators has little to do with the real reason they're there, or the successes they're achieving in changing people's minds about Buffalo. Getting people to think of Biotechnology when they think of Buffalo, NY is no easy task. If the result of this conference is even just one company moving jobs to WNY, then they've done an EXCELLENT job.

You people are too much. Alright maybe it's not Bono, and one comment would do it. But each of you taking the time to put up these comments, trying to outwit the last, (poorly), and then assuming that any of this article has anything to do with how they conduct business is ridiculous. No one wants to comment on the fact that they are meeting with 15 qualified leads?

UrbanGuy...your post is right-on...but the Bono thing is what they threw at us (in the headline). All things aside, the BNE does a great job in spreading the word about working and living in Buffalo. They, along with other organizations, do not get enough credit for their endeavors.
