Blade Runner + DJs + Live Art = Sixworks Gallery
There is a real up and coming new gallery in Allentown that you have to check out. Sixworks Gallery is really mixing it up. Wanna see Blade Runner playing to sounds from a local dj? How cool is that? What about the beautiful painting by artist Mike Tamburo shown above? Sixworks Gallery is pulling all the punches with its experimental mixed media shows these days. Pay them a visit at one of their following events:
Saturday, August 6th, is the opening recpetion for "People I Will Never Meet In Places I Will Never Go", a show by Philly artist Brian Aufdenberg. The reception will include live art created on site by the artist and then raffled off. 7pm. Free. Open to public.
Wednesday, August 10th, Sixworks Music Series presents guitarist Mike Tamburo. He goes far beyond the boundaries of guitar music. Special guest Keenan Lawler. 8pm. $6. All Ages.
Saturday, August 20th, Sixworks Film Series presents "Blade Runner". Sound Off. Subtitles On. Legndary Buffalo DJ Soma will perform his own soundtrack to the film. Last month, "Tron" was a hug hit. Come and see what all the buzz is about. 8pm. $5. All Ages.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.

Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …
