Bills And Bucs - A Showcase Of Defense

Well, here we are in week 2 and in my opinion, the first real test for the Bills and JP Losman. JP passed his first test with flying colors on opening day and now it is time to hit the road where Tampa's crowd and more importantly their Defense will not be quite as hospitable. With both teams creating 5 turnovers of their own last week, something's gotta give. A very important match-up will be the Bills' left tackle Mike Gandy VS Pro Bowl linebacker Simeon Rice. If Gandy can take care of this pass rushing force, it would really go a long way as to allowing the Bills offense to move the ball.
As far as the offense goes for both teams, I think you have to give the edge to Buffalo. I am not necessarily saying that Buffalo has the better offense, but with the Bills defense putting up historic numbers, it is going to be extremely difficult for Tampa to move the ball consistently. The key is to focus on their run game and dare them to throw the ball into a Bills secondary that resembles a pack of wolverines. Do you realize that if Buffalo's defense finishes in the top two this year (making it 3 years in a row), it will only be the third team to do that in 35 years!!!! (Still collecting nicknames for the D - Let's hear em'.) They are #1 after week one so sit back, relax and get ready for history to unfold!!
Now, let's get down to business. I was really tempted to pick the Bucks in a squeaker BUT I am not ready to pick against a Bills D that should be able to wreak havoc on a middle of the road offense. If they are half as good as their billing, there is no reason they can't take this game into their own hands. With that said,
Prediction: Buffalo 27 Tampa 17
Prediction Record 1-0

To be honest, I went out Wednesday night planning to chronicle the last night of this hockey season in Buffalo.
After the way Ottawa crushed the Sabres in Monday night’s third game of the Eastern Conference Finals, physically and spiritually, in perhaps the most one-sided 1-0 game ever played in any sport, the logical conclusion was that Buffalo’s seven-month run as the new glamour team of the National Hockey League was in its death throes.
Teams come back from 3-0 deficits …
Shows how much I know.
Last week’s preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators was rife with wisecracks about John Muckler, Ray Emery, Daniel Alfredsson and even the Roman Senate.
All wrong, as it turns out, with the possible exception of the bit about the machismo exhibited by ancient Rome’s legislative body.
I was not, however, the only one in these parts who badly underestimated Ottawa, judging from Buffalo’s performance …
