Roberley Bell has installed “Becoming Blurred,” a grouping of works made of colorful fiberglass original forms (she calls flower blobs) and molds of found objects, and colorful plastic decorative items, along with preserved butterflies. Bell’s recent work is primarily executed outside in site specific sculptural collaborations with nature, including installations at Hamilton College, Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA, and Grant Park in Chicago. Balancing her personal vision with client needs is intrinsic to that process. This exhibition allows her to freely work within the unique shape of Hallwalls’ gallery. She teaches at Rochester Institute of Technology, and shows in Toronto, Brooklyn, and Virginia.
Friday’s openings featuring artists’ work from Toronto to Cleveland to Albany, are all downtown, something fun for after work:
Cepa Gallery 5-11 pm, 617 Main Street El Museo Francisco 5-11 pm, 91 Allen Street Hallwalls Arts Center 5-11 pm, 341 Delaware Avenue Squeaky Wheel 5-11 pm, 712 Main Street
The weekend continues with north towns receptions on Saturday, and the Burchfield-Penney and Albright Knox Art Center on Sunday afternoon. Check out the website for more detials. www.beyondinwny.org

Singer/Songwriter Noa Bursie is proud to say she was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Though her experiences have taken her across the country and half-way around the world, her roots are here and they are undeniable.
Subtle undertones of spice and rhythm tell the tale of a well-traveled soul fluent in the universal language of passion and youthful angst while the small town, parochial school girl peeks from around the corner with a wry grin.
Bursie is fond of recalli …
Let’s get something straight right off the, well, off the bat, here. Alan Moore’s Batman: Killing Joke is damn near as perfect a Batman story if ever there was one. In addition to The Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller, Lynn Varley), Batman: Year One (Frank Miller, David Mazuchelli), Arkham Asylum (Grant Morrison/Dave McKean) and more recently, Batman: Year 100 (Paul Pope, Jose Villarubia), there is none better. Each one of these titles raised the bar on the adult graphic no …
Grüvology grooves: Jazz, funk and blues. Grüvology is an expression of modern jazz and world beat including a mixture of standard tunes and original compositions. The groove is apparent with or without a drummer. This is fusion.
Grüvology members are Walter Kemp III on keys, Bernard Kunz on electric guitar, Efferin Fuse on bass with the accompaniment of Tim Webb, and Dave Phillips on percussion. Created May 2006 as the result of a duo performance by Walter and Bernard …
After living in a particular place for a long period of time, people often take for granted the unique aspects that come to characterize the area as home. I know I'm guilty of this when it comes to Buffalo's own Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Located a mere mile and a half from my house, I often fail to acknowledge its significance. Recognized as one of the world's leading collections of modern and contemporary art with more than 6,500 works in its collection and a dynamic serie …
