Avalon Development Takes Another Building

Avalon Development Takes Another Building

Story Options

Work started on returning two-way traffic to Main Street's 700 block on Monday. Yesterday, Avalon Development made a strategic purchase on the same block where it has been working since 2001. The development company headed by Chris Jacobs acquired 715 Main Street at the northeast corner of Tupper. The highly-visible building contains 6,110 sq.ft. of space with coveted rear parking along Washington Street. Plans for the building are not known.

Avalon now owns five contiguous buildings on the east side of the block. Prior puchases have seen substantial renovations.

*737 Main- purchased in 2001. The three-story circa-1911 Stokes Seeds Building was Avalon’s first redevelopment project on the block. Featuring 18,000 sq.ft. of commercial space, the building has been a big hit with technology and other firms that can be creative with the loft-like space.

*739 Main- purchased October 2007 and anchored by Full Circle Studios.

Now all we need is a deep-pocketed developer to fill in that giant gaping hole across the street that eats up more than half the block.

Maybe now that the entire east side of Main street had been bought and renovated in recent years the Vernor will be next... ohh wait we still feel that old buildings are not cost effective to renovate and building new is cheaper... That mud lot all these newly renovated buildings is just such so progressive and great glad we did that.

That old 1940's building is so cool and it's great to see it fall into the right hands. Go Avalon!
