Are You Kidding Me?!
Anyone who thinks that playoff hockey is anything short of phenomenal better get their head checked!!! Can you believe that this is only round two of the playoffs? I have been to many monumental games in Sabres history and last night's game took the cake - BY A LONG SHOT!!!!! The crowd was on fire and I am pretty sure that the pre-game party did not hurt either. Sabres fever is spreading like wildfire and the city of Buffalo is grabbing on for dear life. As I stood there in the 300 level (making many new friends), I just gazed around the arena and soaked up every ounce of excitement that was building up to the game winner.
The Sabres came out flying and without the Senators power plays in the first period; Ottawa was taking it on the chin! You want to take out two of our starters, welcome to the HSBC. Buffalo came out storming and never looked back.
Lindy Ruff is up for Coach of the year and I expect the award to be delivered promptly to his front door. I have never seen a Coach shuffle the lines as well as Lindy when the game is on the line. If you want to be in the starting lineup on this team, you better leave your heart out on the ice when the final second has ticked off the clock.
When game four starts tonight, get a jump start to the spring cleaning and grab that broom that the Sabres have hiding in the corner...Shhhhhhhhhh. To me, this looks like a team of destiny but as they say during the interviews, "let's take it one game at a time." It's hard not to peer down the road after last night but if you look really hard, you might be able to see something shiny down the way!!!!!!

Help catch a cure for Cystic Fibrosis by taking part in this year's BassEye Celebrity Challenge. The two-day event, taking place tonight and tomorrow in the NFTA Boat Harbor, is sure to be a great time for all involved.
Even if you're not an angler, you can participate in the festivities. The event kicks off tonight with “Boats, Bait & Beer,” which is an evening event featuring fine cuisine and drinks. Prizes, ranging from gift baskets to trips all over North America, will …
This Independence Day marks the Seventh Annual Cobblestone Criterium Classic bike race! Each July 4th, cyclists come from all over our region, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Canada to participate. This year, they'll be competing for more than $2,000 in cash and prizes.
"In European races, there's always a cobblestone segment," said Jim Costello, owner of Handlebars Cycling Company, which sponsors the event. Seven years ago, he recognized something unique in the Cobblestone District. …
To be honest, I went out Wednesday night planning to chronicle the last night of this hockey season in Buffalo.
After the way Ottawa crushed the Sabres in Monday night’s third game of the Eastern Conference Finals, physically and spiritually, in perhaps the most one-sided 1-0 game ever played in any sport, the logical conclusion was that Buffalo’s seven-month run as the new glamour team of the National Hockey League was in its death throes.
Teams come back from 3-0 deficits …
Shows how much I know.
Last week’s preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators was rife with wisecracks about John Muckler, Ray Emery, Daniel Alfredsson and even the Roman Senate.
All wrong, as it turns out, with the possible exception of the bit about the machismo exhibited by ancient Rome’s legislative body.
I was not, however, the only one in these parts who badly underestimated Ottawa, judging from Buffalo’s performance …

Unfortuntly theres a team named the Hurricanes in the way, and remember how everyone was scared of the devils? Well they are making Broduer look like Emery. And they have the Sabre Killer Rod Brind'Amour. Who would look great with Drury and Grier by the way. This series aint over any way. Gotta win 4.

Had season tickets 70-90. Moved to Florida? Sure wish I still had those tickets. Such a balanced team should go all the way.

Great pictures, Tatonka --- I was shooting similar pics at the party for Artvoice and my personal website. We might have brushed right by each other and not known it, hopefully we can meet in person sometime.
I was really pleased to see Tom Golisano out mingling with the fans, doing media interviews, signing autographs and leading the cheers on the stage. This is exactly how an owner should act! And the fans were eating it up, chanting "Thank You Tom!... Thank You Tom!" Lest we remind everyone again that without Golisano's coming in to save the day, the Sabres would have been gone... it's scary to think how close that was to coming to fruition.
As my partner Pete Farrell, Dave Ricci from Metro Community News and I stepped out into the warm night after doing the postgame, there were still more than a few fans lingering around the streets and lots even though the game had been over for almost an hour. The celebration and euphoria was so real you cuould embrace it. And the three of us agreed on this - if this team actually goes all the way and takes it all, Buffalo will explode.
