And they're off!

591 Delaware is off to the races. With the original facade in tact, this old Colonial Revival mansion is slated to once again play a functioning role in the Allentown neighborhood. For quite some time this shell has sat idle waiting for the sounds of band saws and hammers. Well, those sounds were echoing down the avenue this afternoon. The front pillars stand as a testament to local architecture preservation, and the interior's skeletal appearance is developing quickly. The new roof will be finished in 45 days, and before we know it, the interior will house both offices and living spaces. This is one of those projects that we always hoped to see take place, but as time went by people questioned whether this project would ever move forward.

The original homeowner (1899) was Clarence L. Bryant, one of the founders of Bryant & Stratton Business College. In 1996 the building fell prey to an arsonist. TRM Architect purchased the building in 2001 at public auction and is currently building out the space, which includes a massive addition to the original house in back.
