An outdoor dining experience in downtown Buffalo
Great food, fabulous service and a beautiful patio await you at Hemingwayis on Pearl Street in the heart of Buffalois Theatre District. Our party of three visited this hot spot over the weekend and had a wonderful meal for a small price.
All though the food is terrific and Iill get to the meal shortly, let me first tell you about the hidden, yet huge, patio at this establishment. If you are looking for somewhere to watch a sporting event or just hang out during the warm summer nights this is definitely the place to be. Several tables of four, a long outdoor bar and a scattering of lounge chairs make this the place to be for outdoor dining.
Settling down at a four top we were immediately greeted by our server who was quite personable and quick, service-wise. He brought us a pitcher of beer and iced tea per our request and put our order in to the kitchen. Keep in mind while visiting this restaurant that it is a Theatre District establishment, so if you catch it on a show night, you may have a wait. They also serve a smaller selection of items on show nights. Non-show nights are usually quite relaxed and the selection is plentiful.
Our food arrived and we admired the presentation of each, including the jalapeno, slice of orange and pickle that accompanies each sandwich/hamburger platter. A healthy (depending on how you look it) helping of bacon and cheddar were piled high on the tasty potato skins. Ordered as an entrEe, these were so filling that leftovers were in order.
The iFiddler on the Roofi burger (the majority of burgers are named after musicals) has a tangy topping of barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese, cooked however you prefer. Served with crispy & seasoned french fries this is a filling meal for anytime.
If you are looking for a great place to eat downtown, you should definitely check out Hemingwayis. For a relaxing and delicious meal, this is the place to be.

A corner joint needn't be a dive.
And Papa Jake's doesn't make its patrons choose between a laid-back bar atmosphere and delicious, fresh food. Scott Leary, the new owner of Papa Jake’s Saloon on Elmwood, knows how to provide casual comfort and a very satisfying dining experience.
“We don’t take shortcuts here at Papa Jake’s,” Leary says. He proves this with Papa Jake’s fresh and tasty menu. “I don’t want to call this a late night menu, because we have amaz …
With the opening of more and more coffee houses downtown, some people wonder if Buffalo is really a coffee town. Buffalo is the original coffee town!
The "coffee break" which is taken for granted as a standard part of any work day has only been around for about a hundred years. Coffee culture has continued to flourish in this country and the espresso boom of the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s has seen to it that every other gas station in America now has a barista on staff. Perha …
It's great to see stylish, hip, new restaurants pop up downtown such as Sea Bar on Ellicott Street, which specializes in contemporary Japanese food. A clean ultra-modern space, Sea Bar’s dining room is quaint and inviting. The sleek sushi bar has counter seating and the wet bar, with beer, sake, and wine, has at least 10 sakes to choose from on any given night. We were happy to try a Sojitio, a sake mojito, which had the right amount of mint without too much sweetness.

Ten years ago, the downtown of My Fair City was forever altered when a Big Dinosaur appeared on the scene. Thankfully—unlike 1950’s Tokyo—when this dino showed up our downtown wasn’t flattened, but considerably improved. Dinosaur Bar B Que, a restaurant that originated in downtown Syracuse in the 1980’s, planted its foot in downtown Rochester in 1998. It was an instant hit—it’s common to have a line waiting to get in at all times. And it’s clearly Hog Heaven— …
