An Elegant Evening Of Stylish Denim

The casually elegant evening invites participants to wear their most glamorous denim for a summery cocktail party. About 600 people are anticipated at the event and they will have the opportunity to dance under the stars, cocktails in hand, and bid on great silent auction prizes, all while wearing a pair of jeans. You can also enjoy hors d’oeuvres and if denim isn’t your deal, try some business casual. Most importantly, don’t forget your jewels. This event has its name for a reason!
All money raised benefits the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Roswell was the nation’s first cancer research, treatment, and education center. The donated money from the tickets and the auction go to supporting research and programs that are crucial for thousands of cancer patients.
Tickets are $100 each and are available here or you can call 845-8788. Visit Roswell’s website for more information about what they do. The event is on July 18th from 6 till 11 PM aboard the USS The Sullivans and the USS Little Rock. If you haven’t seen these ships before, this event will be a good way to accomplish multiple goals – see the new waterfront, see ships at the Naval and Military Park, wear all the rocks your body can hold, finally get to be comfortable in jeans at a party, and, most importantly, support cancer research.

This Friday and Saturday marks the fifth annual World on your Plate (WOYP). The event has just a few goals that it tries to spread: restoring the earth by promoting sustainability for all, advancing education and action on food issues, and to create a table where all are welcome. WOYP will try to further those goals this weekend as it brings a film, keynote speaker, and workshops to the area.
Starting on Friday, WOYP will be screening “King Corn.” The movie documents the trip …

Although it hasn’t served rail passengers in several decades, the Terminal is far from dead, as this tour revealed. And although the Terminal’s epitaph was written by the Buffalo News in the 1990’s, it was thankfully rescued from the grave by the fine folks of the Central Terminal Restora …
