All I wanted for Christmas...
This was the first game I was able to attend first hand and even though we didn't win, I was proud of the team that I saw take the field on Christmas Eve. There was an outside shot that if we won and others lost we could have squeaked into the playoffs. Although it wasn't meant to happen, our team continued to lay the foundation for next year.
There were many standouts on our team today. J.P. had another monster game with the exception of the last play of the game. I don't think anyone in the stadium, let alone J.P. had any idea that Coach Jauron would opt to go for it on 4th down rather than kick a field goal. That's what I think ultimately lead to such a chaotic play. Rian Lindell was a perfect 5 for 5 on the day, and I think it was a big slap to the face for him since Jauron showed he didn't believe he could hit another.
There were some positive play calls during the game, especially the pass from Josh Reed to Robert Royal for an o so close touchdown. If only Royal had just fallen over when he caught it he would have been in for 6. Willis had another great day, pounding away at the Titans line earning every yard he ran for.
Vince Young was simply too much for our defense. Just when you think it's going to be a negative play, poof, he's gone. In one case before halftime scampered right through our line, and then the secondary for a touchdown. All you could just do was shake your head and wonder how he did it.
The Bills play a meaningless game next week at Baltimore against the Ravens. They are deep in the hunt for the playoffs, and we'll be looking in from the outside. Even though the game will have little meaning for our team this year, I'll be looking to see who shows up and plays to win.

To be honest, I went out Wednesday night planning to chronicle the last night of this hockey season in Buffalo.
After the way Ottawa crushed the Sabres in Monday night’s third game of the Eastern Conference Finals, physically and spiritually, in perhaps the most one-sided 1-0 game ever played in any sport, the logical conclusion was that Buffalo’s seven-month run as the new glamour team of the National Hockey League was in its death throes.
Teams come back from 3-0 deficits …
Shows how much I know.
Last week’s preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators was rife with wisecracks about John Muckler, Ray Emery, Daniel Alfredsson and even the Roman Senate.
All wrong, as it turns out, with the possible exception of the bit about the machismo exhibited by ancient Rome’s legislative body.
I was not, however, the only one in these parts who badly underestimated Ottawa, judging from Buffalo’s performance …

Thank you Bills
All you wanted for Christmas to apparently was to be so stupid, that you think that a 45 yard field goal into a stiff wind was a good idea.. This was no slam on Lindell.. it was being realistic, that they had a better chance on 4th and 5, then they did on what would have been a monster of a kicking attempt.
Thanks for a good run Bills... you did so much better than expected.. and for that Buffalo thanks you

What a great game though! JP and the gang are proving every week that they are a playoff caliber team and the team which can, and eventually will, lead us back to the postseason. They're young, but they have heart and during the last month or two of football they really put themselves out there and made a serious running to snatch a hard-fought wildcard birth.
For playoff purposes, it wouldn't have mattered had we won (sorry, I do not mean to sound pesismistic at all). Although New England and Denver both won, Miami unfortunately lost last minute to the Jets...

Impressive the way this team found a way to adapt during games and during the season: turning around a 2-5 start to go 5-2 (now 5-3), losing to Indy and SD by a combined 4 points, showing up in the second half of games correcting mistakes in the first half... JP's maturity in the second half of the season...
We saw it all year though -- our inability to stop the run. That's what did us in in this game. When JP and Co. can put up 29 points, we should win. That's the biggest chasm to cross if we are to take the next step...
Thank you Bills players and coaches for an entertaining and encouraging season. I'm already looking forward to next year.
(Let's work on that run defense...)
