If you missed the first couple events put on by Buffalo Indie Market on Pearl Street’s third floor, the good news is that it happens every month—and it just keeps getting better. Tomorrow’s market will feature many of the local artists we’ve seen before, plus a few new faces, for a total of 29 artists. With all hand-made one of a kind items, you’ll find jewelry, cards, pottery, fashion handbags and accessories, artwork, and even children’s and cat toys. Pottery wheel demonstrations will be given at noon and 1pm courtesy of Trisha Wilson of Buffalo Plaid Pottery. And of course, the food and drinks of Pearl Street itself is always an added bonus; lunch service begins at 12pm.

Almost as much of a draw as the unique shopping experience, though, is the musical entertainment. The market on Sunday will feature the alternative acoustic stylings of KB June, who lists among her influences artists ranging from Tori Amos, Delerium and Kate Bush to Tool, The Postal Service and Skinny Puppy. The other performer shoppers will be able to enjoy is the fun, acoustic folk rock of Platypus Rex. Consisting solely of Jonathan Emerling and his guitar, Platypus Rex has a quirky, easy to listen to sound he says is reminiscent of artists like Green Day, The Who, and Ween. Anyone interested in supporting local artists of music and art will find a great representation of both at the Indie Market.

Admission is free, and the market will be open from 11 to 4. Come join the fun in what is one of Buffalo’s newest growing local communities.

We didn't think it was going to be anything like what people typically picture when they hear "craft show" and if anyone did, that notion was turned completely upside down. They had a great time as vendors (first time ever doing something like this), and we'd agree that Mary Stephens, who set the whole thing up, has definitely started something special. I loved the fact that it was at Pearl St and you could get something to eat and stroll around with a beer. It was still completely family friendly and there were kids of all ages there all day.     Hello Buffalo and beyond!!! The Indie Market is goin' on right now and the Pearl Street Grill has the A/C up on high, the taps are flowing and the vendors are awesome so come on over!

    Story Image A large chunk of Buffalo’s industrial past has a new owner. East Delevan Property LLC, a subsidiary of Ontario Specialty Contracting, purchased the empty, 1.275 million sq.ft. American Axle plant located at 1001 E. Delevan Avenue near Bailey Avenue. Buffalo-based Ontario Specialty Contracting paid $1.26 million for the property.
