A Salute From 7 Seas

Dear Buffalo Rising:
Your article on Seven Seas Sailing School's 35th Birthday in last week's Buffalo Rising Magazine was magical. You're here to project and promote Buffalo's secret BESTS, and you have certainly done us a favor that's immeasurable.
No sooner did your Buffalo Rising magazine hit the streets that our phones started ringing. You helped us celebrate a totally unexpected Buffalo International Weekend at Seven Seas.
We already knew that on Saturday we were hosting thirty exchange students from Germany for a sail, and on Sunday we had over 25 individuals from India join us for a sail. But thatis just the start.
Your magazine article prompted a call from a fellow from Tasmanian who works for a Buffalo Bio tech firm and found it astounding he could sign up for sailing classes in Buffalo-- and he did! And another individual, a woman who recently transported to Buffalo from Spain, (to work in our medical corridor) signed up for lessons, after reading your article.
It gets even better! Two doctors (both here in Buffalo), from Greece, (where they are licensed sailing instructors), read the article in Buffalo Rising and came to Seven Seas to sign up as instructors/volunteers. Weive already had them help to skipper boats for the German students Saturday, as well as the delegation from India on Sunday.
We urge everyone to support your magazine, and your project, to promote Buffalo spirits, and we thank you, Buffalo Rising, for supporting our waterfront. (Note that there were several wonderful articles on ALL the small businesses and concerns that serve our waterfront-- grab a copy!)
Thanks! Bill Zimmermann Seven Seas/ M.A.I.N. Foundation

So after fireworks and celebrations on Friday and Saturday, some, if not many, Buffalonians will no doubt be hung over and tired. That’s okay. Between 3 and 6 PM, Cozumel at 153 Elmwood Avenue runs drink specials on Bloody Mary’s and Vodka drinks. A Blood Mary will only cost you $4.50 and a V …

Here's a rerun of a post Steel did two and a half years ago. A building with an already rich history back then, it has even more of a story to tell now. Fortunately, due to the hard work and foresight of a group of neighbors, preservationists, a great lawyer and a developer with the wherewithal and vision to turn an imminent demolition around, one of Steel's favorite buildings has a future too.
This marvelous edifice is on Jersey Street just west of Richmond. It is on a great …
E Square Capital, LLC is busy converting a former factory at 937 Broadway near Fillmore Avenue into a mix of 43 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments plus first-floor commercial space. Eran and Randy Epstein purchased the four-story building in 2002 from Mauntner Co., a jewelry display case manufacturer that vacated the structure in 2000.
“This residential development fills a huge need and is a great opportunity to bring quality, affordable housing to the Broadway-F …
