A Hub Of Activity On Allen

If you ever had the chance to experience the former Rick Bikes location, then you will surely see what a difference this sizeable store makes on the merchandise layout. Despite the overwhelming buzz inside, there is still a feeling of openness, unlike the small and cluttered feel that the old shop had. I asked Tom Azzarella, owner of Rick Cycle, about the increase in activity and even he seemed stunned with the development. To have such an immediate impact on a neighborhood is really exciting. I'm sure that the move was not an easy one, and there is no guaranty when it comes to customer devotion. I'm happy to say that both old and new customers are psyched to see this cycle shop making such a splash right out of the gates.
When Neo Gifts announced that they were leaving the block, many neighbors worried if any business would be 'big' enough to fill their shoes. I guess the Neo move was a win-win situation. We now have Neo on Elmwood, East End Salon in its new home with Rick Cycle, the Falafel Bar opening a second location down the street... now can we get the former East End Salon filled? It's a 650 sq.' space that has already been fixed up by Patrick Monfort, owner of East End Salon (send me an email if you're interested). Allentown is certainly heating up for summer... at both ends too.

So after fireworks and celebrations on Friday and Saturday, some, if not many, Buffalonians will no doubt be hung over and tired. That’s okay. Take Sunday, skip church, and sleep in till the afternoon. Just make sure you’re up and ready to go around 2:30 PM so you can make it on time to Cozumel Grill for Sunday Bloody Sunday.
Between 3 and 6 PM, Cozumel at 153 Elmwood Avenue runs drink specials on Bloody Mary’s and Vodka drinks. A Blood Mary will only cost you $4.50 and a V …

Here's a rerun of a post Steel did two and a half years ago. A building with an already rich history back then, it has even more of a story to tell now. Fortunately, due to the hard work and foresight of a group of neighbors, preservationists, a great lawyer and a developer with the wherewithal and vision to turn an imminent demolition around, one of Steel's favorite buildings has a future too.
This marvelous edifice is on Jersey Street just west of Richmond. It is on a great …
E Square Capital, LLC is busy converting a former factory at 937 Broadway near Fillmore Avenue into a mix of 43 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments plus first-floor commercial space. Eran and Randy Epstein purchased the four-story building in 2002 from Mauntner Co., a jewelry display case manufacturer that vacated the structure in 2000.
“This residential development fills a huge need and is a great opportunity to bring quality, affordable housing to the Broadway-F …

When I lived in Buffalo, I had Rick Cycle perform all repairs on my bicycles. Their service was great and the prices fair. I'm glad to see that they are still in business and expanding. Congratulations.

Went there Saturday. What a great relocation. Just a couple of blocks from where they were, but a completely different feel. Very bike friendly, appealing neighborhood. I'm a fan of Main Street, but this location is much better for them. Congrats!

When I was ten years old, my cousin and I, led by our naive curiosity of the city, rode our bmxs down Clinton St from West Seneca to check out the big city. After the oh-no moment of realizing we were pretty far from home, I got a flat tire. Desperate to not call our parents, we limped into Rick's, where someone took pity on us, and fixed the flat free of charge. We promptly hightailed it back to the 'burbs. Thanks Rick's!

Rick Cycle was originally a manufacturer of bicycles at the earlier part of last century. He (I think his name was Walter Rick) sold the business to Schwinn, then went into the retail side of things.Nice to see the name continues to hang.

I work nearby and am happy that there is a cool place attracting good attention. The only downfall is the store front. Neo was nice to walk by and see all the beautiful things in the windows. Now there are old dirty bike parts lining the windows. It would be great to see it cleaned up a bit with maybe a new bike in the window or something.
