2007 WNY 9-11 Ceremony

"The city comes together... religious and civic leaders will be there at 8am sharp. It's an annual congregation at Lookout Tower (found at the end of the Erie Basin Marina) that attracts people who want to pay respect and reflect upon our recent past. This is the third year that 7-Seas Sailing School has been asked to conduct this solemn ceremony and freedom celebration. It begins with a solemn remembrance ceremony. From there we will bless bushels of seeds and bulbs that will be sent to all of Buffalo's Sister Cities. Those bulbs and seeds will be blessed tomorrow at the ceremony. This will be a fostering of fellowship and a respect to the community, thus helping to restore faith in humankind. Two years ago was the fourth anniversary of 9-11 and we thought that we needed to branch out to show some faith in what it all means. We expect that the inner-faith gardens will grow in our our sister cities in remembrance of 9-11. Tomorrow will be another emotional day."
There will be a free reception with coffee and pastries to follow. Live music too. Walk, bike, do what you can to attend the ceremony tomorrow morning at 8am.

The Buffalo based company was founded in 2002 by a group of Western New York college students looking for a better alternative to on-campus bookstores.
Staying true to their slogan “A Refreshing Text Book Experience,” Bucks4Books made it their mission …
Earlier today we took our first walk through the brand new Burchfield-Penney Art Center. By the end of the visit I must say that I was a bit disappointed. Why? Because after walking through the entire complex, I found myself wishing that I had gone to the membership gala the night before. That was when thousands of members/supporters came together to revel in the glory that is The Burchfield-Penney Art Center.
The art center experience certainly lives up to all the hype that has …
This past July, the East Delavan Branch of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library was given a grant of more than $133,000 from the Josephine Goodyear Foundation to help improve literacy rates in the area as part of the Read to Succeed Buffalo Literacy Coalition campaign.

Almost nothing incites a turf war on Buffalo Rising like The City vs. The Burbs talk (unless, of course, the topic happens to be Classic Art vs. Modern, or Casino vs. No Casino, or anything to do with the Peace Bridge and trolls).
Therefore, we enjoyed this little parody from the Onion that pokes fun at the 'burbs, but at the same time takes a look at what might be a haughty attitude held by city dwellers in respect to the suburbs.
This piece pushes stereotype to the max in a to …
