1950's-Style Dining is 100% "Buffalo Cool"
This 54,000 pound 1952 Mountain View Diner has become one of the most attractive and visible eateries on Main Street. Located next to The Steer Restaurant, LED is a labor of love and an integral part of University Heights' renaissance. Owner, Tucker Curtin rescued Mountain View #446 from an upscale Philadelphia suburb, and when I say rescued, I really mean it. The diner had been converted into a Chinese restaurant, and then had been abandoned, left to sit out in the elements for a long stretch of time. Well, if you take a look at the diner today, you might think that it is a replica due to the meticulous restoration that Tucker personally oversaw during the period of one year. The transformation was really something. From abandoned to first class, Lake Effect is open 24 hours a day! This is pure Americana without the kitsch and is definitely 100% Buffalo cool. -Excerpts taken from BRM writer, J. Morris. Article was featured in the Holiday/Winter '05 issue. LED is located @ 3165 Main Street. 716.833.1952

I've been reading about a few different chess clubs in Buffalo, but not being an avid player I'm not sure which ones are best for different levels of play. Some of the tournament play that I have heard about is only to be left to the experts. That's why I finally decided to post on a beginners series in August that takes place at the Main Place Mall.
The Archangel 8 Chess Academy is …

The owner of the American rights to Shark Energy Drink started his first entrepreneurial venture long ago, at the age of 13, and with the exception of a few glitches that furthered his business sense, he has soared upward ever since.

On July 8, US District Court Judge William M. Skretny determined the Seneca Nation of Indians could not legally operate a gambling casino on their nine-acre Michigan Avenue site. “Business as usual,” said Seneca Nation President Maurice A. John, Sr. the day after the decision. Nearly two weeks later, gambling continues in the temporary facility and work on the permanent casino is proceeding.
