- It took 24 years to get back to Buffalo- but I'm so glad I did . San Antonio, Houston and St. Simons Island, Georgia have nothing on my hometown. I'm a city gal through and through. Grew up in East Lovejoy - exiled by a parental move to Pembroke during my teen years. (Let's not otherwise acknowlege that period).
Since coming home have lived in loft on Main St., rented house in heart of EV and am now happily settled as a Rabin Terrace homeowner. I am lucky enough to not only enjoy my work, but respect and appreciate my employer. They make a difference in the community and make choices for the right reasons. Many years as a journalist - as well as working in boom industries in Texas - made me more than cynical. These guys have the opposite effect. It was a little unsettling at first, but I've come to truly appreciate it.
I not only came back home, but brought my St. Louis-born husband with me - as well as his pension as a retired federal agent. Now if we could get the economy to the place my adult daughters could have great jobs here too instead of living in Texas and Georgia....
