Christmas music provides a sonic atmosphere this time of year and it is, at best, a mixed blessing. Tradition has replaced variety and the airwaves seem to have coalesced into a loop of a few dozen or so songs. About this time every year, I need to hear Christmas music from people who believe--I mean BELIEVE--in Christmas. Road Less Traveled Productions may not be the first local theatre company to cross your mind when you think of the phrase "wholesome family entertainment". The holidays can make one jaded and sometimes it takes a trip to Kleinhans to get back in the holiday spirit. For example, my neighbor's annual holiday lawn decorations include a ten foot tall, inflatable Scooby Doo wearing a Santa hat. The religious significance is lost on me--especially without Scrappy Doo by his side--and I felt the holiday spirit draining from me as I jostled among the faithful at an overlit Target store.
